So the first game of the 2008-09 season starts in less than a month, and I’m still not 100% set on my gameday schedule. I don’t know if I’ll be taking the metro to Chinatown or if I’ll be driving. If I drive, I don’t know where I’ll park. I don’t know if I should go to McDonough to pick up my press pass or if I’m just supposed to get it at Verizon Center on November 17. But while I’m not completely set on my plan for the whole season, I am all prepared for the three games of the Old Spice Classic.

There is no denying the void that has been left by the departed senior class of 2008. It will feel very strange for all Hoya fans to hear the starting line-ups announced on November 19 at Verizon Center and not hear Jonathan Wallace’s name. But this is the reality of college basketball, and while it is sad and difficult at times to move on, there is also a great opportunity for new players to accept the responsibility of making up for what the departed players left behind.

Midnight Madness will take place tonight at McDonough Gymnasium, with the doors opening at 8:30PM. If you’re out of town, can’t make it, not a student, whatever, don’t worry. Hey everybody,
We’ve been having some trouble with our email system at Hoya Hoops, so if you’ve sent any emails to us in the past few days, we probably haven’t gotten it. If for some reason anyone has something important to say, please leave it in the comments, and we’ll be getting back to you as soon as we can.
Sorry!

Before last season, Tony warned about expectations diminishing accomplishments. He said, “Expectations are created by fans and media based on what they think a team should accomplish during a season.” Based on this idea, people might say last year’s team “underachieved,” despite the fact that they were the first Georgetown team ever to defend a Big East Regular season title. But, when a team is pinned as a championship-caliber team, anything less can seem disappointing. So, it is important to balance these expectations. One the one hand, one should keep from having too lofty expectations. Otherwise one will always be left unsatisfied. However, one cannot be too complacent about the team’s position, or one runs the risk of settling for mediocrity. With this in mind, what should our expectations for this Georgetown team be?

So HoyaHoops.com is a year and a day old. (Yup, on our official first birthday, we had some trouble with the site and it was down for most of the day). Happy Birthday us!
We’re going to continue to do our best to provide you with all you need to know about Georgetown basketball, and now that the season is just a little over a month away, it’s time for us to kick it up a notch. We’re going to be providing you with daily updates from now until the end of the season with new content and new goodies to sate your Hoya appetite.
Feel free to post any suggestions you have to improve the site in the comments. We may be a year old (which is something like 20 in blog years) but we’re still just getting the hang of this and could use all the help we can get.
