Hoyas win, Old Spice finalists lose

By Hoya Hoops
  • The Georgetown Hoyas beat the Memphis Tigers on Saturday in overtime 79-70. It was the first ranked opponent that Georgetown defeated this season, and it improved on Coach Thompson III’s incredible close game record.
  • Two teams in the Top 10 lost over the weekend, as #8 Tennessee fell to the Temple Owls 88-72 on Saturday, and then #4 Gonzaga was defeated by the University of Arizona 69-64 Sunday night. Both of the losing teams played in the Old Spice Classic with Tennessee falling to Gonzaga in the Championship game back in November.
  • Roy Hibbert earned his first NBA start on Saturday in the Pacers’ 121-103 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. Roy went 4-7 from the field to pick up 8 points in his 18 minutes. The Pacers play the Wizards tonight at the Verizon Center, and hopefully Roy can start once again at his old home court.
  • Jeff Green had a season high 33 points in Oklahoma City’s losing effort against the San Antonio Spurs. The Thunder have only managed to win two games all season and are sitting at the bottom of the league standings.
