For the second game in a row, we asked you to predict how many points Jessie Sapp would score. And for the second game in a row, Jessie didn’t do much. In fact, against Florida International he didn’t even start. He did end up with four points and three assists, which means DJ wins with his guess of seven points. Of course, if this were the Price is Right, you would hear the buzzer, since everyone overbid.
Since we are afraid going three in a row with the same question might force another mediocre performance from the senior leader, we will change it up. Freshman Greg Monroe will be welcomed to Big East play by one of the biggest players in the league, 7’3 center Hasheem Thabeet. It will be a tall task for the underclassman, and we are curious to see how he will stack up.
How many points will Greg Monroe score, and will he score more than Thabeet?
Our guess is he will have 14 points, and that he will end up with more points than his counterpart. Your guesses? Post them below.

Jeff Green, Roy Hibbert, Jonathan Wallace, Patrick Ewing, Jr., and Tyler Crawford were the Georgetown Basketball Class of 2008. Ewing transferred in from Indiana after two years in Bloomington, and Jeff Green left school after his junior season to enter the NBA Draft. Still, these players and that class as a whole did as much for Georgetown Basketball as any group ever.

It’s official. With last night’s victory against FIU, Georgetown’s consecutive home win streak is 29 wins, the longest in the modern era.
Now that you know how well the Hoyas have done recently at the Verizon Center, it’s probably a good time to look back on how poorly they had done prior to this stretch. Up until the start of this streak, the Verizon Center did not provide much of a home court advantage. Whether the Hoyas had good teams or bad teams, the results at home were never anything to be proud of. Here are some facts and figures about life in the MCI/Verizon Center since the Hoyas played their first game there on December 3, 1997.

Georgetown:
The Hoyas looked much better today than in their last contest. The team moved the ball well, getting wide open looks offensively, and put on the clamps defensively, holding Florida International to a frigid 24% from the field in the first half.

The Georgetown Hoyas gave their fans an early Christmas present, coasting to a 76-38 win over a depleted Florida International side. After lacking intensity in their previous win, the Hoyas came out out of the gate focused, hitting seven of their first eight shots en route to an early 20-4 lead. The game would never get closer.

Hey everybody, Johnny here courtside at Verizon Center for the game between your Georgetown Hoyas and the FIU Golden Panthers. Empty student section, empty arena, and empty press row. So much so, that I’m on the sideline right near midcourt.
Big news in the starting lineups – no Jessie Sapp.
For the Hoyas, it’s Summers, Wright, Monroe, Freeman, and #31 Omar Wattad earning his first start.
For FIU, it’s going to be Asprilla, Essola, Taylor, Bright, and Dominguez.
National anthems up now.

Today is a day that will live in infamy. Probably. If the Georgetown Hoyas defeat the Florida International Golden Panthers this evening at the Verizon Center, the team will break a school record for most consecutive home wins. Sort of. First, there are some specifics that need to be addressed.
