- DePaul’s Big East win streak ended at one, as the Providence Friars beat the Blue Demons 83-74. Dar Tucker’s game-high of 30 was not enough to hold off Providence, who were paced by 25 from Sharaud Curry and 23 from Weyinmi Efejuku. The Friars now look to solidify their claim to a NCAA Tournament bid, as they take on top-seeded Louisville today at noon. A win will most likely earn Providence a spot, whereas a loss might burst the Friar’s bubble.
- Marquette held the Red Storm to just 10 first half points en route to a 74-45 rout. The game was over at halftime, as the Golden Eagles took a 28 point margin into the locker room, paced by Wesley Matthews, who single-handedly outscored St. John’s by one in the opening period. Marquette then coasted in the second half to snap a four-game losing streak. They next face Villanova, who edged them out for the double-bye in the Big East Tournament, with tip-off scheduled for 2:00 PM, but more likely to happen around 2:30, 20 minutes after the conclusion of the Louisville game.
- West Virginia took an early lead and then held off a Notre Dame surge to beat the Fighting Irish 74-62. Alex Ruoff rebounded from his scoreless performance on Senior Day to score 25 points, nine coming in the first half as the Mountaineers took a 36-18 lead into the break. Luke Harangody responded to a poor first half with 23 second half points, but it was not enough for the Irish, who are now on the outside looking in with respect to the Big Dance. West Virginia moves on to face heated rival Pittsburgh in the first game of the night session.
- Syracuse used a dominant second half to defeat Seton Hall 89-74 in the final game of the night. The Pirates led briefly in the second half, but coming out of the 16 minute timeout, Syracuse went on an 18-3 run to blow the game open. Eric Devendorf and Jonny Flynn both had 19 points for the Orange to lead five Syracuse players in double figures. The win sets up a match-up with Connecticut in the late game, with a scheduled start time of 9:00 PM.
