Also, Mike Sweetney did not make the final cut for the Boston Celtics despite greatly impressing coach Doc Rivers.
According to the Celtics Blog at Boston.com, there are rumors that Rivers might keep Sweetney around so that he can workout with the team to help get back into shape.

This past Friday, college basketball season officially got underway. As most schools now do, the Georgetown Hoyas celebrated the start of the season with Midnight Madness festivities. Midnight Madness is in essence just one big pep rally, and its main if not sole purpose is to get the fans excited for the upcoming season. But, for Hoya fans, that’s easier said than done. More »

Midnight Madness is tonight, and before college basketball season officially begins, I thought I’d let you in on a couple things relating to tonight’s festivities.
Since there are only a few hours left, I’d better get going.
New Jersey
Besides kicking-off the new season, celebrating last season’s accomplishments, dancing around with celebrities, and introducing the team’s freshmen and half-freshman, Midnight Madness at Georgetown is a time to honor recent Hoyas beginning their careers in the NBA.
So yesterday afternoon, I headed over to McDonough for the Hoyas’ Preseason Media Day. It wasn’t too exciting, since the team isn’t even allowed to begin practices yet, but it was the first chance to hear from Coach Thompson and the players about the upcoming season, what to expect, and how they are trying to learn from last season’s setbacks.
Funniest Moment: Greg’s missed shot bouncing into a section of young reporters and knocking one of their tape recorders to the ground, sending the tape and batteries flying.
Most Awkward Moment: Liz Clarke asking Coach about Assistant Coach Rob Burke’s departure and the lack of an official press release – hint, he didn’t say much.
Most Hoya Pride Moment: Coach heading over to the bleachers to give Patrick Ewing, Jr. a hug before coming to address the media.
With NBA Training Camps starting up a few days ago, some Hoyas’ names are popping up again. Mike Sweetney is still practicing with the Boston Celtics like he did during the Orlando Summer League, and while it doesn’t look like he’ll get a roster spot in Boston, he’s still out there trying to prove that he belongs back in the League. And over in Europe, Jessie Sapp is getting comfortable in Glasgow. After three games, the Rocks are 1-2, but Jessie has done well for himself, leading the team in scoring twice with 26, and putting up 15 in their one win. So far, he’s shooting 54% from the field and 47% from three to go along with his 8-9 (89%) from the stripe. After the team’s first game, the Coach had some nice things to say about his rookie guard: Jessie Sapp has bright future with Glasgow Rocks.
