The Georgetown Hoyas remained perfect on the season with an 83-62 win over Mount St. Mary’s. The game was reminiscent of the Hoyas’ previous outing against Lafayette, with both teams scoring early on and Georgetown pulling ahead before the break. Georgetown led 40-29 at the half.
Johnny here at the Phone Booth, and we’re about an hour away before the second game in three days for the Hoyas here at the Verizon Center. There’s a bit of a local rivalry between the teams, as Mount St. Mary’s is only about an hour and fifteen minutes from the hilltop, and the teams have met 25 times.
I’ll be checking in with info as soon as I get it, but for now, this is all I’ve got for you:
Refs: Bryan Kersey, Tony Crips, Brent Barnakey.
Starters look like the same for the Hoyas, but that’s been known to change.
Georgetown:
The Hoyas started off slowly, allowing Lafayette to stay in the game with three-pointers. However, as the half started to wind down, Georgetown began to pull away, going on a 21-4 run that spanned the intermission.
From that point on, it became an offensive exhibition, with everyone on the team contributing. Greg Monroe passed wonderfully from the post, picking apart the zone defense with six assists, Jason Clark had another career game in scoring with 19, and the bench had its biggest game so far, adding 28 points. The Georgetown Hoyas defeated the Lafayette Leopards in impressive fashion, winning 97-64. The game started out close, mostly attributed to three-point shooting. The Leopards started out on fire, hitting five of their first seven attempts from beyond the arc, while the Hoyas struggled, making only three of their 12 three point attempts in the half. But the Leopards would cool down, and the Hoyas closed out the first half with a 11-3 run to take a 45-31 lead into the break.

Hey everybody, Johnny here at the Phone Booth, an hour away from the start time for this afternoon’s game between the Georgetown Hoyas and the Lafayette Leopards.
It’s Thanksgiving break for the students, so there’s practically no one inside the Verizon Center yet, but with the doors opening right now, I see some people trickling in.
Today’s the first game of a three-game homestand that the Hoyas are expected to sweep before heading on the road for two major opponents. With that said, today’s game is important for the team to get used to the offense and for the underclassmen to gain real game experience.
I’ll be checking in throughout with more info, but for now, here are the refs: Earl Walton, Ray Perone, and Paul Faia.
