Combined Points

By Hoya Hoops

Happy Thanksgiving, Hoya fans!

In our last Pregame Predictions, we wanted to know how many Hoyas would reach double figures against Savannah State. Although this year’s win was not as high-scoring as the last match-up between these two sides, four Hoyas still managed to break the 10 point barrier, led by Jason Clark’s career-high 14 points. Both Bob in Columbia and Bobby in Tennessee guessed that four Hoyas would accomplish that feat, and since neither picked Clark as the leading scorer, they tie. So, a little love for the Bob’s.

Georgetown now plays two games in quick succession, taking on Lafayette Saturday, followed by Mount St. Mary’s on Monday. This week’s Pregame Predictions will tackle both those games with one question.

How many combined points will the Hoyas score?

We are predicting Georgetown will get 145 points in those two games to go along with two more wins.

What do you think? Post your guesses, and maybe you can celebrate with the Bobby’s next time.

Radio Info and Google Calendar Updates

By Johnny

Yesterday, Georgetown announced the radio broadcast schedule for the rest of the season. Basically, every game will be on ESPN 980, except for this upcoming game against Lafayette, and the DePaul game in January which will both be aired on AM 570.

We’ve already updated our Google Calendar with that information, and if you’ve subscribed to the calendar using Google, iCal, or Outlook 2007, your calendars should already be updated.

Calendar HelpIf you haven’t subscribed or downloaded the calendar yet, we’ve made it easy by creating a help page with detailed instructions for the major programs you might use to access an online calendar.

And if you just need some quick info and don’t feel like managing the whole calendar interface, you can also check out the schedule in an easy-to-read table over at our updated schedule page.

Savannah State Postgame Press Conference

By Johnny

Even though there weren’t very many members of the media at Tiger Arena on Saturday, there still was a postgame press conference, and I was there to pick up the audio. Here is what Coach Thompson, Greg Monroe, and Jason Clark* had to say about the win at Savannah State.

* Actually Clark was cut off by Coach, and never answered any questions.

Johnny’s Savannah State Postgame Thoughts

Teams

Georgetown:
Greg at SSUTrailing 7-0 less than four minutes into the game, Coach Thompson called a timeout. Two minutes later, and the Hoyas had taken the lead 9-8, and they never looked back.

With the result no longer in question, JTIII used this game as an opportunity to try out different players and allow them to play in a competitive atmosphere without bringing back the starting five to help them out when they struggled.

Savannah State Recap

By Hoya Hoops

The Georgetown Hoyas overpowered the Savannah State Tigers with 4 players in double figures on their way to a 63-45 victory. The Hoyas trailed 7-0 to start the game but then went on a 14-1 run to remove all of the drama from the result. Georgetown entered the break with a 14 point lead, and the Tigers were unable to cut into the lead in the second half.

Savannah State In-Game Thread

By Johnny

Hey everyone, after a 10 hour drive and a night at the Hilton Garden Inn, I’m finally here courtside at Tiger Arena, sitting next to Rich and Evan Chvotkin.

The team is just walking in with their suitcases, headed towards the locker room, so I think I’ll take this time to get settled myself. I’ll be checking in from now until the final buzzer, so keep it here at the HoyaHoops In-Game Thread.

Double Figures

By Hoya Hoops

Before the Temple game, we asked everyone how well the Hoyas would shoot from the stripe. The answer? Better, but not by much. The Hoyas shot 13-19 from the line, good for 68.4%. That means that Bob from Columbia wins with his guess of 70%. If this were The Price Is Right, we’d all be losers, but it’s not so only most of us are losers.

Up next for the Hoyas is Savannah State, an independent school that doesn’t pose much of a threat. Last season, Georgetown beat the Tigers 100-38 and at one point in the 1st half, led by 45 points. Since the Hoyas finished with five players scoring in double digits, we thought that would be a good question for this year’s matchup.

How many players will score 10 or more points for the Hoyas, and how many will the leading scorer have?

We’re gonna say that six players will get in double digits, led by Wright with 15.

What do you think?
