Rebounding

Last week, in our Pregame Predictions we asked how many combined points the Hoyas would score against Lafayette and Mount St. Mary’s. With a 97 point showing against the Leopards and an 83 point effort against the Mount, Georgetown scored 180 points in 3 days.

Nobody guessed close to that – possibly due to the low scoring in Savannah State – so that means Zo wins with his guess of 165. Nicely done, Zo. Sort of.

On Saturday, the Hoyas take on another local rival, the American Eagles. When the two teams met last year, the Eagles grabbed 30 rebounds to the Hoyas’ 24. However, Georgetown has been done a better job on the glass this season, out-rebounding Lafayette and Mount St. Mary’s by a total of 21 boards. That leads us to this game’s question:

Which team will grab more rebounds, and how many more will they collect?

American is in the middle of a rebuilding year, so we’re gonna say that Georgetown will pull down 12 more boards than the Eagles.

    Gonna go a little less than that, with 10 rebounds more for the Hoyas. Vaughn with definitely be the high rebounder for the Hoyas.

    Georgetown will win in the rebounding category. My guess is by 11 rebounds.

    AU has more rebounds by 3. Hoyas win the game by around 14 pts. The taller AU freshman will net AU around three more rebounds than GU. I’ve seen this picture before – live by the three pointer, die by the three pointer. Those long rebounds on 3 pt. misses go to AU. On paper, if the Hoyas killed Lafayette, they should demolish AU, but until there is some consistent “flow” we are going to see ups and downs. I also hope the reserves see a good chunk of playing time in the second half – their last chance to do so before the tougher schedule starts.

    Hoyas should win battle of the boards. im thinking it’s the offensive re ounds that should help pad our stats, ill say +15. was thinking more like 12 but since you guys said that i’ll go higher. Hoya Saxa!!
