Turnovers

By Hoya Hoops

We asked Hoya fans to predict what percentage the Butler Bulldogs would shoot from the field. Georgetown put the clamps on Butler defensively, holding the Bulldogs to 31% on the night. Our readers either underestimated the Hoyas’ defensive prowess or overestimated Butler’s shooters, since all of the guesses were over. Zo was the closest with his guess of 36.1%, so he’ll get the victory this time. We expect better from everyone this time.

Fortunately, your shot at redemption is already here. The biggest problem for the Hoyas this season has been turnovers; they committed a whopping 21 against Butler. Georgetown now fly across the country to take on Washington in the John Wooden Classic, and we are wondering if the team will take better care of the ball.

How many turnovers will the Hoyas commit?

We think the Hoyas will do a better job of protecting the ball. But not that much better. We are predicting 14 turnovers for Georgetown. Tell us your predictions in the comments.

  1. DBeck Says:

14? Yeah, maybe 14 for just Chris- I’ll go with 18

  2. Matt the Man Says:

15, but this time we’ll have 20 assists.

Our 2007 Final Four team had similar problems with turnovers early in the season. Not that I’m not worried, but I’m hoping that they can turn it around like that team did as we go deeper into the season. Too many cross-court passes against Butler that were intercepted. I’d like to see the backdoor open against UW.

  3. Zo Says:

It’ll be a point of emphasis this week, 12 turnovers.

  4. hoyasincebirth Says:

    13

  5. Bob from Columbia Says:

Tougher defense – Wreckless Wright and three turnovers in 30 seconds Vaughn – make a repeat of 21 quite feasible to me. My prediction is 21 but how Iwould love it to be 5 – guaranteed victory.

  6. Let's Go Hoyas! Says:

17 Turnovers and another big win! Let’s Go Hoyas!

  7. Bobby in Tennessee Says:

I’ll go with 16 turnovers (less if Dbeck were sitting in the 3rd row yelling at the Washington players). I haven’t seen anything yet to lead me to believe that Gtown is capable of keeping numbers inthis category down. Wright hasgot to do a better job of distributing the ball as our point guard but he’s still wreckless and sloppy at times. I thought the improvement wouldbe better by now…and he’s got to learn when he can drive in the lane. Those cross court passes have to stop…too dangerous. Greg Monroe has as many assists as Wright (21) and Wright is avg 1 assist per turnover. Vaughn has got to do a better job of holding onto the ball. Freeman, Clark and Monroe did much better protecting the ball. Go Hoyas!!
