Villanova In-Game Thread
By JohnnyHey everyone, Johnny here at the Wachovia Center in South Philadelphia. We’re about half an hour away from tipoff between the Villanova Wildcats and the Georgetown Hoyas. The last time the Hoyas came to Philly, they came away with a thrilling victory against the 10th ranked team in the country.
This year, things are a little different as Villanova is ranked #4, but the Hoyas are right on their tail at #11. It’s a big game for both teams in the middle of a packed Big East schedule.
I’m gonna be giving updates from press row throughout, but for now, here’s what I know:
The Wildcats are going to be starting Pena, Reynolds, Fisher, Redding, and Stokes.
The Hoyas are going to put the same five out there – Wright, Clark, Freeman, Vaughn, and Monroe.

January 17th, 2010 at 11:50 am
Former Georgetown assistant and now Princeton’s Director of Basketball Operations Martin Bahar is here quietly rooting on the Hoyas.
January 17th, 2010 at 11:56 am
Some Georgetown fans here are getting a “Hoya Saxa” cheer going, and the Novas are fighting back with a “Let’s Go Nova”
January 17th, 2010 at 12:03 pm
As the PA Announcer called out the Hoyas’ starting lineups, the Nova fans chanted “SUCKS” after each of our players’ names.
Classy.
January 17th, 2010 at 12:07 pm

January 17th, 2010 at 12:10 pm
Freeman gets the Hoyas on the board with a putback. 2-2.
January 17th, 2010 at 12:10 pm
And Greg gives the Hoyas their first lead with a 3, 5-4.
January 17th, 2010 at 12:12 pm
4 fouls on Villanova, so the refs call a makeup foul on Vaughn for a moving screen.
January 17th, 2010 at 12:15 pm
At the 16:00 timeout, the Hoyas are winning 8-7. Villanova already has six team fouls.
That last one was pretty obvious, but the fans here are pretty upset anyway.
January 17th, 2010 at 12:17 pm
Vaughn gets his 2nd offensive foul, on Benimon enters in his place.
January 17th, 2010 at 12:20 pm
Chris Wright now has two fouls. He doesn’t foul much in general, so you knw the refs are just trying to take over.
January 17th, 2010 at 12:24 pm
Hoyas call a timeout after Villanova gets some fast break points thanks to their pressure defense. Hoyas trial by five, 20-15.
January 17th, 2010 at 12:31 pm
8 and a half minutes left in the half and Hoyas are shooting 1 and 1.
January 17th, 2010 at 12:32 pm
And now Villanova is in the 1 and 1.
January 17th, 2010 at 12:39 pm
Vee’s checking in with the Hoyas down 13.
January 17th, 2010 at 12:52 pm

Chris Wright just picked up his third foul in transition defense.
January 17th, 2010 at 1:01 pm
Hoyas trail by 15 at the half, 46-31. Chris Wright and Julian Vaughn each have three fouls, and no one on the Wildcats has more than two.
January 17th, 2010 at 1:08 pm
Mike here in section 218. Very similar to the uconn game in that the Hoyas are not running the offense well and have given up way too many points. Hopefully there will a similar turnaround in the second half.
January 17th, 2010 at 1:16 pm
We’re about to start the 2nd half.
January 17th, 2010 at 1:17 pm
Free starts the half with a three-pointer
January 17th, 2010 at 1:20 pm

January 17th, 2010 at 1:26 pm
It’s the 16:00 timeout, and Hoyas only trail by five, 53-48. Freeman already has 10 second half points
January 17th, 2010 at 1:33 pm
After missing a layup, Vaughn commits his fourth foul on the other end. Not a very good ten seconds for Julian.
January 17th, 2010 at 1:35 pm
Clark cuts the lead to four after grabbing an offensive board, and Coach calls a quick timeout.
January 17th, 2010 at 1:37 pm
And now with over 12 minutes to play, Chris Wright has picked up his fourth foul.
January 17th, 2010 at 1:43 pm
Benimon hit a rare three because the shot clock was low.
January 17th, 2010 at 1:47 pm
Benimon is no longer the best free throw shooter on the team.
January 17th, 2010 at 1:48 pm
Benimon holds the ball for a jump and hten both players fall to the ground, leading the refs and players to run in as if there were some sort of brawl going on.
January 17th, 2010 at 1:54 pm
It’s a sellout here at Wachovia Center – 20,016
January 17th, 2010 at 1:56 pm
Benimon just picked up foul #4 going for a rebound.
January 17th, 2010 at 1:56 pm

Vaughn just fouled out with 0 points and 5:33 remaining.
January 17th, 2010 at 2:04 pm
Greg cuts it to two with a pair of FTs
January 17th, 2010 at 2:05 pm
Greg ties the game and before the timeout, Greg walks over to the corner of the court and points to the section of Hoya fans in the upper deck.

January 17th, 2010 at 2:09 pm
Basket and one for Reynolds. That’s Clark’s fourth foul, and Scottie will shoot the one shot after the four minute timeout.
January 17th, 2010 at 2:14 pm
Taylor King of Villanova got an offensive rebound on the floor and called timeout. Only thing was, he rolled around and wasn’t holding the ball when he called the timeout.
January 17th, 2010 at 2:19 pm
Wright misses a tying three, Hoyas get the offensive rebound and turn it over, and now Scottie Reynolds has two shots with 36.7 remaining.
January 17th, 2010 at 2:19 pm
5 point game.
January 17th, 2010 at 2:20 pm
Freeman gets a quick two and Hoyas call timeout. 76-73 Wildcats with 25.8 remaining.
January 17th, 2010 at 2:20 pm

No time went off the clock, so our subs shouldn’t be allowed back in.
January 17th, 2010 at 2:25 pm
Scottie made both shots, but the Hoyas still can’t check back in. No time has gone off the clock. Vee and Henry have to play this possession.

Now after seven seconds, Coach calls a timeout to get Chris and Jason into the game.
January 17th, 2010 at 2:26 pm

January 17th, 2010 at 2:29 pm
Free made two and commited a quick foul. Hoyas down three with 14 remaining – Wayns shooting two.
January 17th, 2010 at 2:31 pm

January 17th, 2010 at 2:31 pm
Nova uses their last timeout because they can’t inbound.
January 17th, 2010 at 2:35 pm
Villanova made all their free throws down the stretch, and pulled away with this one, 82-77, their first victory against the Hoyas in 6 meetings.
Things don’t get much easier for the Hoyas, as they face Pittsburgh next in three days.

Anabolika bestellen bzw.
