Georgetown:
The Hoyas put together another solid performance and proved way too much for Rutgers to handle. The Hoyas started out strong, got out to a lead, and never looked back.
It’s probably unreasonable to expect this type of offensive production much more throughout the season, but if Georgetown can shoot nearly as good as they did on Saturday, they will be a very difficult team to beat.

After an impressive mid-week win at Pittsburgh and two days before a prime-time showdown against the Orange in Syracuse, the Georgetown Hoyas easily could have overlooked Saturday’s match-up against Rutgers. They didn’t.

Johnny here courtside at the Phone Booth 45 minutes away from tipoff between the Georgetown Hoyas and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
The Hoyas are coming off of a two-game road trip in which the Hoyas split against higher ranked opponents, most recently defeating Pittsburgh at the Petersen Events Center.
Rutgers, meanwhile have struggled in the Big East season, losing six straight games and still winless in the conference. To many, this has trap game for the Hoyas written all over it.
I’l be checking back in with more info as we go, but for now –
Refs are Tim Clougherty, Ed Corbett, and Bernard Clinton.

Julian Vaughn was plagued with foul trouble in Georgetown’s loss to Villanova, so before the Pitt game, we asked how he would bounce back. In Georgetown’s 74-66 “upset” win over the Panthers, Juju had 11 points, six assists, and five boards. He also had a critical three-point play, where he rotated nicely off the double team on Greg Monroe, then took Greg’s pass and sent the ball in with authority, and even talked a little smack to Gary McGhee after drawing the foul. A good all-around game for “The Doctor.” And a good guess from Let’s Go Hoyas, who was only a point off with his prediction of 12 points and five rebounds. Nice work.
The Hoyas now face two games in three days, first playing Rutgers at home this Saturday, then traveling north to Syracuse to take on the Orange at the Carrier Dome on “Big Monday.” The Hoyas have done a great job of individually stepping up when needed, and with another trap game tomorrow and one of the best rivalries in college basketball on Monday, Georgetown will definitely need a player or two to take their game to the next level.
Who will average the most points over the two-game span, and how many will he average?
We think that Austin Freeman will light it up against the Scarlet Knights and the Orange, averaging 21 points over that stretch. Let us know who you think will carry the team in the comments.

Teams
Georgetown:
Once again, the Hoyas showed that this team is different from last year’s, bouncing back after a tough loss to Villanova to ensure there would be no losing streak. Everyone contributed, with four Hoyas in double figures, and the team committed a season-low eight turnovers to help ensure the victory.
The Hoyas opened up an eight point lead midway through the first half, but you got the sense that the Panthers were not going to back away. The score was tied nine times and there were 11 lead changes, and you would expect nothing less from a Pitt-Georgetown game. The Hoyas were able to open up the game down the stretch by playing pressure defense on one end, making key baskets on the other, and out-hustling the Panthers for rebounds and loose balls, and that made the difference.
