Big East Dominates Polls

The new rankings were released yesterday, and Georgetown remained #7 in the AP Top 25 while moving up to #8 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll. Georgetown is ranked behind three other Big East teams, Villanova, Syracuse, and West Virginia. In total, there are five Big East teams in both Top 25s and 4 in the Top 7 or 8.
Austin Freeman was named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll for the 2nd time this season. It’s the 6th straight week that a Hoya was honored. Meanwhile, USF’s Dominique Jones took home Big East Player of the Week. Georgetown will face Jones on Wednesday at the Verizon Center.
In Big Monday last night, Louisville beat Connecticut 82-69 in Freedom Hall. That’s three straight losses for UCONN, and the Huskies have only one conference victory since playing the Hoyas – they beat St. John’s at home.
