The Georgetown Hoyas lost at home for the third time in four games, falling to Notre Dame 78-64. The loss drops the Hoyas to 9-7 in conference play.

The Hoyas looked out of sync the whole game, especially on the defensive end, where the were giving up open shots and allowing too many offensive rebounds. As a result Notre Dame had 10 more shot attempts than the Hoyas at the break. The Irish led by four, 31-27.

Georgetown started the second half poorly, and the Irish quickly extended their lead to 11 points. The Hoyas then rallied, cutting the lead to only four with eight and a half minutes to play, but that would be as close as Georgetown would get. Over the next four and a half minutes, Notre Dame outscored the Hoyas 15-3 to put the game out of reach.

Greg Monroe led four Hoyas in double figures with 15 points. Noticeably absent from the list of double-digit scorers was Austin Freeman, who was hampered by a stomach virus, coming off the bench, playing limited minutes, and not looking at all like himself. Ben Hansborough led the Irish with 21 points on 7-10 shooting.

The Hoyas face a quick turnaround, as they travel to Morgantown to take on the Mountaineers. The Big Monday showdown is scheduled for 7 PM.
