Everybody Else Against Louisville

By Hoya Hoops

Before the Hoyas faced off against Syracuse at Verizon Center last week, we asked everyone how many points the Big Three – Chris Wright, Austin Freeman, and Greg Monroe – would put up against the Orange.

Emily was right on the money with her guess of 61 points, but unfortunately the team needed just a few more to earn the victory.

Tonight, Georgetown travels to Freedom Hall to play a critical conference matchup against Louisville that will have huge implications for the Big East Tournament. Hopefully the Big Three will have a good game again, but this time let’s see how the rest of the team does:

Outside of the Big Three, how many points will the Hoyas score and who will have the most?

We’re going to say that they all score 15 points, led by Jason Clark’s 8. What do you think?

Teams

Georgetown:
The Hoyas have been a hot-and-cold type of team all season long, and you saw both sides in this game. The first 25 minutes of the game were difficult to watch, as Georgetown looked flummoxed by the Syracuse zone, as if the Orange have not been playing the same defense for 30 years, and they were totally incapable of stopping Syracuse, giving up wide open three-point looks or dunks.

Syracuse Recap

By Hoya Hoops

At the 12:30 mark in the second half, the Georgetown Hoyas found themselves on the wrong side of a blowout, trailing their arch-rival Syracuse by 23 points, 60-37. But, the Hoyas would not give up without a fight.

Syracuse In-Game Thread

By Johnny

Hey everyone, Johnny here at the Verizon Center. We’re a little over half an hour away from the huge rivalry game between Georgetown and Syracuse. The Hoyas fell to the Orange earlier in the season, but that was at the Carrier Dome. Tonight, the sides face off in Chinatown, where the Hoyas are 12 and 1.

So far, Georgetown has split with the two teams they’ve played twice this season, with the home team winning each matchup. Let’s see if that trend continues to day with a win for the Boys in Gray.

I’ll be checking back in throughout the game, but I already have this info for you:
The Hoyas will be starting the usual five – Wright, Clark, Freeman, Monroe, and Vaughn.
The Orange will start Jackson, Rautins, Johnson, Onuaku and Triche.

And tonight’s officials will be Jim burr, Jamie Luckey, and James Breeding – three Jameses.

Big Three vs. Syracuse

By Hoya Hoops

Before the Rutgers game, we asked how many points the Scarlet Knights’ leading scorer Mike Rosario would have. He ended the game with only 10, but it was Jonathan Mitchell who would pick up the slack, scoring a career-high 24 points in Rutgers’ upset of the Hoyas. Zo was the closest with his guess of 13, making him our winner for the third consecutive game. Nicely done, Zo.

The Hoyas take on the Orange tomorrow with chip on their shoulders after their last meeting in Syracuse. Georgetown will need all three of its stars to step it up for the rematch.

How many points will Austin Freeman, Greg Monroe, and Chris Wright combine for?

We think the Hoyas will avenge their loss, with the Big Three scoring 58 points. Post your guesses below.

Johnny’s Rutgers Postgame Thoughts

By Johnny

Teams

Georgetown:
Georgetown started the game looking very lethargic. In a game where the outside shots weren’t falling, the Hoyas adjusted well to go inside either by giving the ball to Greg Monroe or by getting to the basket. However, when the game was winding down, they went away from that and they could not get much needed stops on the defensive end, and that ultimately caused the loss.

Rutgers Recap

By Hoya Hoops

The Hoyas suffered their biggest setback of the season, losing to Rutgers 71-68. The Hoyas looked uninspired throughout the game, while the Scarlet Knights could smell upset from the onset. Rutgers was the aggressor throughout the game, and they led by a point at halftime, 33-32.
