Second Half of the First Quarterfinal

By Hoya Hoops

This afternoon, Georgetown beat South Florida 69-49 in the second round of the Big East Tournament. Before the game, we asked you how many points USF junior guard Dominique Jones would score. We guessed 20, Emily guessed 22 and Jones went for 21. Since we don’t want a Hoya Hoops t-shirt, we’ll give Emily the two-points in the Pregame Predictions running.

Tomorrow, the Hoyas face Syracuse in the Big East Tournament quarterfinals. The last time the teams met, it was a tale of two halves as Syracuse went into the break with a thirteen point lead, and the Hoyas outscored the Orange by nine in the second half. Hopefully Georgetown won’t find themselves in as big of a hole tomorrow, but we anticipate that a big second half performance will be important regardless. So here’s our question:

Which team will score more in the second half and by how many points?

We’ll say the Hoyas will outscore the Orange by six points in the second half (and hopefully they’ll outscore them in the first too). What do you think?

    Hoyas +11

I think in order to win, the Hoyas will need to have a first half like their 2nd half against the Cuse the last time they played. They will also need to do so incase they get into foul trouble down the stretch. So I will say Cuse outscores us by 3 in the second half, but we win the game. I don’t think Cuse will beat us 3x in 1 year…and we finally figured out how to play them during our last game.

Oh yeah, and I’m going to wear my Hoya gray out t-shirt to bed again tonight!

Hoyas win and outscore the orange by 7 in the second half. Let’s Go Hoyas!

First – Bobby In Tennessee don’t take that T-Shirt off (it’s got Duke victory vibes). I agree with Bobby’s strategy and conclusion. Like son, like Father. I don’t think we can win coming back from a hole. We need to build and keep a hefty margin in the first half – say around 12 points. Then WE need to withstand a desperation push by the Orange and hang on for a 1 pt. victory. Syracuse outscores us by 11 in the second half but we win anyway. No way Syracuse beats us 3 times in a season, no way they have the perfect game like last time, when they could not miss. Go Hoyas – prove me wrong and lead both halves. Go Henry SIMS – 7 minutes is a major step in the right direction. I’m awaiting that breakout career game before the season ends.

  6. Julien from France Says:

Hoyas +2, after a small lead for Georgetown in the first half.
As for the 3 games in the same season, there’s a saying in french: “Jamais 2 sans 3″: what already happened twice is going to happen a third time. Prove it wrong!

  7. Emily Says:

I will say that the Hoyas will outscore the Orange 8.

  8. DBeck Says:

    Hoyas +13 in the second
