What a weekend of college basketball. The last two days wrapped up the regular season and started the post-season all at once, and we at Hoya Hoops are ready to ride the wave of March Madness as far as the Hoyas will take us - hopefully into April Madness or at the very least, a "Burger Madness" from Wisemiller's. Now then, let's get you filled in on what to expect from us over the next few days.

What a weekend of college basketball. The last two days wrapped up the regular season and started the post-season all at once, and we at Hoya Hoops are ready to ride the wave of March Madness as far as the Hoyas will take us - hopefully into April Madness or at the very least, a “Burger Madness” from Wisemiller’s. Now then, let’s get you filled in on what to expect from us over the next few days.

We will be announcing our Big East Conference Awards. We’ve selected a first team, second team, and third team of players based on their regular season performances. We chose one center, two forwards, and two guards for each of the three teams. Our choices were not just about stats or perception, but instead we chose the players at each position that we thought had the best seasons - both individually and in terms of the positive impact they had on their teams.

In addition to the Hoya Hoops All Big East Teams, we will be unveiling our All Defense, All Rookie, and All Reserve teams. In order to be eligible for the All Reserve Team, players had to come off the bench in more conference games than they started - that’s the same criterion used to qualify for the NBA’s Sixth Man Award.

Finally we will be announcing our individual awards for League MVP, Coach of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Sixth Man of the Year. As always, we encourage you to have your say in the comments section (we will assume that if there are no comments, then everybody agrees with our selections).

Also, and this may be the most important information of all, we will be LIVE at Madison Square Garden for the Big East Tournament. We’ll have recaps for every game of the tournament, and we will have postgame quotes from John Thompson III as well as the Hoya players. HoyaHoops.com is now your Big East Championship Headquarters through Saturday night when the next Champion is crowned. Hoya Saxa.

There are four days left until the Big East showdown at high noon on Saturday to crown the regular season champion. For the next four days we at Hoya Hoops will be getting everybody ready for what can easily be classified as the most important Georgetown game in the history of the Verizon Center.

As part of our four days of buildup, we will also be paying homage to the four Georgetown seniors who will be playing for the final time in front of the home crowd at Verizon Center - a crowd which has grown and improved as much as the program has over the past four seasons. Including their most recent dramatic victory against Marquette, the seniors have combined to do so much for the program:

They have scored 3,054 Points

Grabbed 1,375 Rebounds

Dished Out 639 Assists

And Earned 96 Wins.

We will begin our tribute with the 6'4" guard from Stuarts Draft, VA - Tyler Crawford. Be sure to check back later to see what we have to say about Bam Bam.

Starting with tonight's game against Syracuse, we at Hoya Hoops are bringing you The Inside Scoop, a feature where some writers covering Georgetown's rivals will be giving us a breakdown of their team's strengths and weaknesses. In return, we're writing up similar rundowns for the Hoyas, which will be posted on their sites.

As with all of our new features, feel free to give us some feedback. We know that it's not always fun listening to positive press about Syracuse or Villanova, but we're interested in what these writers have to say, and maybe it will give us some insight on how to break down their teams.

With the start of the Georgetown Basketball season rapidly approaching, we at Hoya Hoops are introducing a few new features:

The first is a section some of you from the Hoya Talk boards might be familiar with. It is an online schedule of all Georgetown games with game times, locations, and radio/TV coverage. This calendar will continue to be updated as games occur to include scores and links to articles.

We are also introduction a section called, "Pregame Predictions", where we'll give everyone a chance to submit their own thoughts about the upcoming game.

Finally, we'll be introducing a game day page, which will act as a one-stop shop for everything you need to know on the days that the Hoyas suit up. There will be links to the game previews, in-game threads, and post game recaps, box scores, and analysis.

So be sure to keep checking back throughout the season, and we'll keep pumping out new stuff for you.

We at Hoya Hoops are happy to be introducing three new sections to our site.

The first, Numbers Up, will be written by Mike, our resident mathematician, where he will look at Georgetown Basketball from a mathematical point of view, analyzing trends from game stats and trying to glean some insight into potential weaknesses or strengths of the Hoyas.

Johnny will be providing Hoya Hoops with some levity in his new section, Eyeball to Eyeball, which will focus on the lighter side of Georgetown Basketball, reminding us all that it is still just a game.

And finally, we are proud to introduce Game Time (based on the section of the same name on our sibling site Shlake.com), a place where you the readers will get to have some fun in the comments, playing Georgetown related games.

We hope you enjoy these new additions to our site, and as always, we welcome your feedback in the comments or at hoyahoops@hoyahoops.com.
