The Hoyas didn’t make it to the make it to the Final Four this season, but Georgetown does have some representation in Houston. Austin Freeman will be playing in the Reese’s College All-Star Game this evening. Coverage starts on truTV at 5 PM, with tip-off scheduled for 5:30 PM. Be sure to check it out. Or at least set up your DVR and watch only the parts when Freeman is playing.
Who knows how much playing time Pat will see in the next ten days, but hopefully his performance with the Hornets in the upcoming weeks will earn him the shot he deserves.

#Hoya News: Chris Wright has been cleared to play. 1st ‘full’ practice will be Mon. Good for Ncaa Tourney.
Chris coming back for the tourney is good news for the Hoyas, but since he will most likely not be 100%, this week’s worth of practices are extremely important for everyone on the roster.

After getting drafted by the Celtics as the #5 overall pick in 2007, Green was quickly traded to Seattle/Oklahoma City on draft day. Today, he returns to Boston, getting traded with Nenad Krstic for Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson.
Great news from the GU Athletics Department – Chris Wright “underwent successful surgery this morning” and is expected to return this season.
WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Head Men’s Basketball Coach John Thompson III announced today “Chris Wright, injured in last night’s game with Cincinnati, underwent successful surgery this morning for a break in the third metacarpal of his left (non-shooting) hand. Our medical staff is optimistic and although we do not have an exact timetable, we expect to have Chris back before the end of the season.”
We told you back in November that Alonzo Mourning would be entering the Georgetown Athletic Hall of Fame this year. Well, the 20th Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Dinner is one week away, and it’s time to register for the event if you haven’t already.
It’s $100 a head, unless you’re a child or young alum, in which case it’s just $75.
The whole thing takes place next Friday, Feb. 25th in the Leavey Center, and the reception starts at 6:30 with dinner following at 7:30.
Chris Wright scored 24 points and led the Hoyas to victory last night against Louisville. He also got himself on SportsCenter, coming in as the #2 play of the day:
And Chris was a little surprised himself that he beat out DeAndre Jordan, Dwayne Wade, LeBron James, and Blake Griffin.

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Head Men’s Basketball Coach John Thompson III announced today that freshman forward Aaron Bowen (Jacksonville, Fla./QEA [N.C.]) will miss the remainder of the 2010-11 season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder today.
“Aaron’s recurring shoulder injury has hampered him the entire season,” Thompson said. “After advice from our medical staff and discussion with Aaron’s family, we felt it was necessary to do this procedure now. He had surgery today and we look forward to having him back on the floor after completing his rehabilitation.”
We wish Aaron the best as he recovers from his surgery, and we’ll all be waiting for what he brings to the table next season.
Hoya Hoops reader Billy Cox sent me an email Sunday night after the Redskins’ loss to Minnesota at FedEx Field. Here’s what it said.
Talked to Chris Cooley, Redskins tight end and Utah State Alumni, after there loss to the Vikings today in the player parking lot and asked if he was going to Georgetown game Saturday. He said no, but he was going to dinner with the Utah State team Friday night and they have a very good chance of beating the Hoyas because State has a good team this year.
As much as we love Chris Cooley, we hope the former Aggie‘s wrong about this one.
