#Hoya News: Chris Wright has been cleared to play. 1st ‘full’ practice will be Mon. Good for Ncaa Tourney.

Chris coming back for the tourney is good news for the Hoyas, but since he will most likely not be 100%, this week’s worth of practices are extremely important for everyone on the roster.

From Ron Thompson’s Twitter account:

#Hoya info: Chris Wright is healing great. Shot jumpers yesterday AND today in practice…

That sounds like good news for the Hoyas, but we still have to wait and see how he progresses.

Chris Wright #2 on SportsCenter

By Johnny

Chris Wright scored 24 points and led the Hoyas to victory last night against Louisville. He also got himself on SportsCenter, coming in as the #2 play of the day:

And Chris was a little surprised himself that he beat out DeAndre Jordan, Dwayne Wade, LeBron James, and Blake Griffin.

Bowen to Miss Rest of Season

By Johnny

Aaron Bowen was noticeably absent as the only Hoya not to enter the game against St. John’s last night. The reason for him staying on the bench was just announced in a press release from the Georgetown Athletics Department.

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Head Men’s Basketball Coach John Thompson III announced today that freshman forward Aaron Bowen (Jacksonville, Fla./QEA [N.C.]) will miss the remainder of the 2010-11 season after undergoing surgery on his right shoulder today.

“Aaron’s recurring shoulder injury has hampered him the entire season,” Thompson said. “After advice from our medical staff and discussion with Aaron’s family, we felt it was necessary to do this procedure now. He had surgery today and we look forward to having him back on the floor after completing his rehabilitation.”

We wish Aaron the best as he recovers from his surgery, and we’ll all be waiting for what he brings to the table next season.

Chris Cooley and Utah State

By Johnny

Chris Cooley - Utah StateHoya Hoops reader Billy Cox sent me an email Sunday night after the Redskins’ loss to Minnesota at FedEx Field. Here’s what it said.

Talked to Chris Cooley, Redskins tight end and Utah State Alumni, after there loss to the Vikings today in the player parking lot and asked if he was going to Georgetown game Saturday. He said no, but he was going to dinner with the Utah State team Friday night and they have a very good chance of beating the Hoyas because State has a good team this year.

As much as we love Chris Cooley, we hope the former Aggie‘s wrong about this one.

Vaughn Now Expected to Play

By Johnny

News travels quickly these days. Perhaps too quickly.

Now Washington Post’s Tarik El-Bashir is reporting that Julian Vaughn has been cleared from the hospital and is expected to play against Coastal Carolina.

Hoyas C Julian Vaughn has been cleared to play and met team in Charleston today, I’m told. … Julian Vaughn and Jason Clark are expected to play tomorrow vs. Coastal Carolina.

I still would have preferred an official press release, but it’s good to know that Julian is feeling alright, whether he plays or not.

Vaughn Did Not Travel to Charleston

By Johnny

Tarik Tweet

More bad news regarding Julian Vaughn’s illness. According to Washington Post’s Hoya beat writer Tarik El-Bashir’s Twitter account, Julian Vaughn did not make the trip to South Carolina for the Charleston Classic.

Hoyas C Julian Vaughn did not travel with team today for this weekend’s tourney. JTIII says doctors are still evaluating test results.

That doesn’t sound like good news for the Georgetown’s post presence in the tournament without veteran Julian or youngblood Moses Ayegba. Henry Sims and Nate Lubick will need to pick up the slack for the Hoyas to do well in Charleston.

Of course, we’re all wishing Julian a speedy recovery.
