Vaughn Now Expected to Play

By Johnny

News travels quickly these days. Perhaps too quickly.

Now Washington Post’s Tarik El-Bashir is reporting that Julian Vaughn has been cleared from the hospital and is expected to play against Coastal Carolina.

Hoyas C Julian Vaughn has been cleared to play and met team in Charleston today, I’m told. … Julian Vaughn and Jason Clark are expected to play tomorrow vs. Coastal Carolina.

I still would have preferred an official press release, but it’s good to know that Julian is feeling alright, whether he plays or not.

Vaughn Did Not Travel to Charleston

By Johnny

Tarik Tweet

More bad news regarding Julian Vaughn’s illness. According to Washington Post’s Hoya beat writer Tarik El-Bashir’s Twitter account, Julian Vaughn did not make the trip to South Carolina for the Charleston Classic.

Hoyas C Julian Vaughn did not travel with team today for this weekend’s tourney. JTIII says doctors are still evaluating test results.

That doesn’t sound like good news for the Georgetown’s post presence in the tournament without veteran Julian or youngblood Moses Ayegba. Henry Sims and Nate Lubick will need to pick up the slack for the Hoyas to do well in Charleston.

Of course, we’re all wishing Julian a speedy recovery.

Ayegba to Miss First Nine Games

By Johnny

Georgetown just announced that freshman Moses Ayegba will be forced to miss the first nine games of the season due to an NCAA ruling.

Before we began recruiting Moses, before he enrolled in high school here, it turns out his ticket to come to this country was paid for by someone who was not a member of his immediate family. Because of this the NCAA has ruled that he is ineligible for the first 9 contests. We’re disappointed that the NCAA rejected our appeal of this ruling.

That means we won’t see #32 in action until one month from now when the Hoyas take on Appalachian State.

Henry Sims Wants a Theme Song

By Johnny

Henry at Media Day

At the Preseason Media Day today, Henry Sims was sporting his new #14, and he gave us a brief explanation for his number change:

I’ve been in the 30s my whole life. I just decided to change it up a little bit. It’s my father’s birthday. That’s really the only reason. Just to mix it up a little bit.

He also told us what he remembered about the first Midnight Madness he attended.

The only thing I remember is Roy coming out to his own song. I want my own song so bad.

So Henry wants a theme song. Any ideas?

Midnight Madness Is One Day Away

By Johnny

Tomorrow night, Midnight Madness will be taking place at McDonough Gymnasium, and according to the Georgetown Basketball Twitter page, D.C. native Wale will be performing.

But just because practices can officially begin tomorrow night, that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to cover today. I’ll be checking into McDonough in a few hours for the Preseason Media Day where Coach Thompson will give us his first insights into the season to come.

Stay tuned.
