Hey everybody, Johnny here at Verizon Center, an hour away from the 1:00 tipoff between the Georgetown Hoyas and Marquette Golden Eagles.
The Hoyas come into this game on a seven game winning streak and looking as good as they have all season. At 8-4 in the Big East, Georgetown sits in third place in the conference, holding the tiebreaker over Louisville. Marquette comes into today’s meeting at 6-5 in the conference, and this will be their third straight road game who fell to Villanova back on February 2 and beat USF on Wednesday.
Expect a big offensive showing today, as the Golden Eagles are ranked 1st in the conference in scoring offense, but only 14th in defense. The shooters should be finding good looks, and they’ll have to knock them down.
Here are the starting lineups for you.
The Hoyas are set to start the same five as usual – Wright, Freeman, Clark, Lubick, and Vaughn.
The Golden Eagles will be starting Johnson-Odom, Blue, Buycks, Crowder, and Otule.
The refs this afternoon are John Cahill, Dough Shows, and Jeff Anderson.
I’ll be filling you in with in-game updates and comments, so check back often and feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments.

Hey everyone, Johnny here at Verizon Center 15 minutes before the tipoff between Georgetown and Louisville, two teams who moved up in the rankings today thanks to big wins on Saturday against Villanova and Connecticut respectively.
Lots of Louisville fans were spotted milling about Chinatown outside the arena, so expect there to be a fair number of people cheering for the wrong team tonight. Hopefully, they won’t have much to cheer about.
Here’s the info I have for you so far:
The starters are going to stick the same for the Hoyas – Clark, Wright, Freeman, Lubick, and Vaughn.
For the Cardinals, it’s gonna be Knowles, Siva, Chris Smith, Jennings, and Kuric Van Treese.
And the refs tonight are Ed Corbett, John Gaffney, and Karl Hess.
Check back for more updates and commentary throughout, and feel free to leave your own insights/questions below.

Hey everyone, Johnny out in Philadelphia, getting ready for the classic Big East matchup between the Georgetown Hoyas and Villanova Wildcats. We’re still about 45 minutes away from tipoff, but I can see that the seats behind both baskets here in the Wells Fargo Center are covered with white Villanova Rally towels for Nova Nation.
I don’t have ref information for you yet, but the scoreboard says that it will be the same starting lineup that the Hoyas put against St. John’s – Nate Lubick instead of Hollis Thompson. It worked well against the Red Storm, so we’ll have to see how the lineup change works out here in PA.
Like I said, the Hoyas are set to start Clark, Wright, Freeman, Lubick, and Vaughn.
The Wildcats look to start Pena, Wayns, Fisher, Yarou, and Stokes.
Check back for more info as the game goes on, and feel free to keep your comments coming in the thread.

Hey everybody, Johnny here at the Verizon Center. It was an ordeal getting here because of the crazy weather in D.C. today, and even though we’re less than 45 minutes away from tipoff the Phonebooth is pretty empty right now.
Fans or no fans, the game will go on, and the Hoyas will get their first chance at vengeance with a rematch of the game against St. John’s 23 days ago.
The two teams are going in opposite directions right now, as St. John’s started the Big East season with three wins but are coming off of two straight losses. Georgetown started off 1-4, and have just won two straight. It’s the first home game for the Hoyas since their disappointing losses against West Virginia and Pittsburgh, so we’ll have to see if they can take the winning ways they found in New Jersey and bring it back home.
Here’s the info I have for you now:
The Hoyas will be starting the same five: Clark, Wright, Freeman, Thompson EDIT: Lubick, and Vaughn.
The Red Storm are set to start Polee Jr., Kennedy, Hardy, Horne, and Brownlee.
The refs tonight are John Cahill, Bryan Kersey, and Jeff Clark.
Check back for in-game thoughts and updates from the Verizon Center, and be sure to leave your comments on the game as well.

Hey everybody, Johnny here at the RAC, half an hour away from tipoff between the Georgetown Hoyas and Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
I don’t have fond memories of this arena, as the first time I was here, I learned that Chris Wright was going to miss the entire Big East season, and the last time I was here, the Hoyas were handed a devastating defeat on Valentine’s day one year ago. Hopefully, this time, the trip to RAC will bring more positive news with a road victory and the start of a large winning streak.
As I was entering the arena, there were tons of fans piling in, and you’d be happy to know, they were Georgetown fans, coming off of the Hoya Hoop Club bus. Right now me, the Hoyas fans, and the Rutgers pep band are the only ones here, but that’s soon to change as the Hoyas always draw a big crowd here in Piscataway.
As always, I’ll be checking back in with news and updates, and now, I have very little info for you because the scoreboard says the Hoyas are starting Ryan Dougherty and John Caprio, so that’s probably not updated yet.
Stay tuned for more.

Hey everybody, Johnny here, sitting courtside an hour before the Hoyas’ biggest game to date a home game against the #5 Pittsburgh Panthers. Georgetown’s coming off of two straight losses, their first home defeat, and a disappointing 1-3 start to the conference. It’s going to be a big test to see how the Boys in Gray respond to adversity and perform tonight.
It’s still very early, but the students are here in full force as there were lines outside Verizon Center with kids eating burritos in the cold, and there are now crowds in both student sections for the first time in several weeks.
I’ll be checking in with all I know, but for now, here’s what I got:
Hoyas will be starting the same five – Clark, Wright, Freeman, Thompson, and Vaughn.
The Panthers are starting Brown, Gibbs, Wanamaker, Robinson, and McGhee.
And the refs tonight are Ed Corbett, Pat Driscoll, and Wally Rutecki.

Johnny here, sitting courtside at Verizon Center bright and early this Saturday morning. The Hoyas are set to tip off against the West Virginia Mountaineers in about half an hour, in their first and only AM game of the season. And according to my research, it’s the first morning game for the Hoyas under Coach Thompson. I can’t remember another AM start ever, but that doesn’t qualify as research, so let’s stick with since the arrival of JTIII.
There are more students back, there is a mini band back, but some of the student section will still be going to other fans as not everyone is back from the Christmas break.
The Verizon Center is not too packed yet, but fans are piling in slowly. They probably hit the snooze button one too many times. There are a significant number of fans in blue and gold though, so hopefully the Georgetown faithful will wipe the sleep out of their eyes and get out here to support the Hoyas.
Here are your starting lineups.
For the Hoyas, it’s the same five as always – Clark, Wright, Freeman, Thompson, and Vaughn.
For the Mountaineers, it will be Mitchell, Jones, Kilicli, Bryant, and Flowers.
And the refs this morning are going to be John Cahill, James Breeding, and Jeff Clark.
Check back in for more in-game news and updates, and leave your own thoughts in the comments.

Hey everybody, Johnny here, courtside at Verizon Center. After a disappointing road trip to South Bend, I’m looking for a Hoyas victory to start off 2011.
This afternoon’s opponent is the DePaul Blue Demons their first Big East opponent to come to Chinatown. Both teams are 0-1 in the conference and are looking to get their first Big East win of the season.
I’ll be checking in throughout with game updates and Verizon Center happenings. In the meantime, here’s what I know:
The Hoyas look to start the same five: Wright, Freeman, Clark, Thompson, and Vaughn.
DePaul is sending out Stovall, Kelly, Melvin, Young, and Faber.
The refs for today’s game are Bob Donato, Jeff Anderson, and Doug Shows.

Hey everybody, Johnny here at the Joyce Center in South Bend, Indiana, less than an hour away from the Georgetown Hoyas’ first Big East game of the season as they square off against Notre Dame.
After beating up on Memphis in the preseason finale, the Hoyas are looking to continue their winning ways with their second straight road win. Tonight, however, the Hoyas are back in navy blue after wearing their alternate black unis in Tennessee.
I don’t have any info on the starting lineups yet, but I know who the officials are going to be:
The refs for tonight’s game are Pat Driscoll, Mike Roberts, and Karl Hess.
Keep checking back for more in-game updates from courtside.

There’s heightened security here at Verizon Center today with some entrances blocked and metal detectors guarding the ones still available. Either someone important’s coming to see the Hoyas last home game before Christmas or they’re raising security all day and the Wizards – Heat game will have a special guest later on tonight.
So after getting my bags checked twice, I’m courtside at Verizon Center, less than an hour away from tipoff between the Loyola Greyhounds and the #15 Georgetown Hoyas. There are not going to be many students here today as exam week is over, and it’s time for their Christmas break, but the band is here – I went though security with them.
Here’s what I know for you:
The Hoyas are going to be starting the same five – Wright, Freeman, Clark, Thompson, and Vaughn.
The Greyhounds will be starting Cormier, Walker, Barney, Olson, and Rudolph.
The refs this afternoon will be Wally Rutecki, Ray Natili, and Lamar Simpson.
