With the Hoya season about to get under way this Saturday against Savannah State, it means the we can start up another season of Pregame Predictions. Here’s how you play: before every game we will ask you a question about the upcoming game. The person with the answer closest to the correct answer gets a point. At the end of the season, the person with the most points wins a HoyaHoops.com t-shirt. Good luck!
The Hoyas have a different look this season, as they lost five scholarship players from last year’s side. But, they do return four players who started at least one game last season: Jason Clark, Hollis Thompson, Nate Lubick, and Henry Sims. We wonder which of these players will fill the hole left by the departures.
Which returning starter will have the most points, and how many will he have?
We think that Hollis Thompson will score 21 points to lead the Hoyas to a opening game victory. Post your guesses in the comments.

The Hoyas’ season ended with a 74-56 loss to VCU, a loss that does not look as bad considering the Rams’ Final Four run. For what turned out to be our final Pregame Predictions of the season, we asked you to guess how many turnovers Georgetown would have. The Hoyas committed 17 turnovers, which means that Julien’s prediction was closest, and he gets two points.
With the season over, we can now look at the final standings:

The Hoyas were shown an early exit from the Big East Tournament by eventual champions Connecticut 79-62, falling to 0-3 in games without Chris Wright in the lineup. Prior to tip-off, we asked how many points Austin Freeman would score. Freeman had 20 points in the losing effort, meaning billy cox was closest and gets two points for his effort. Nicely done.
As we enter the NCAA Tournament, let’s take a look at the standings for the Hoya Hoops T-shirt:

So, billy cox leads by the smallest of margins, and with each question now worth two points, it’s anyone’s game. Now, on to this game’s Pregame Prediction.
The Hoyas now know they will be taking on VCU on Friday night after the Rams defeated USC 59-46 last night in Dayton. Thanks to Coach Joe’s analysis of VCU in his scouting report, we know that the Rams use a high intensity defense to create offense. Georgetown will have to take special care of the ball in order to get the win. Also, considering Chris Wright is returning for his first game in three weeks and might be a little rusty handling the ball, limiting turnovers will be essential to Georgetown’s success.
How many turnovers with Georgetown commit?
We think the Hoyas will turn it over 13 times, right around the season average. Let us know your guesses in the comments. And remember, the closest answer is worth two.

The Hoyas dropped their third game in a row and fourth out of five, losing to Cincinnati in the season finale 69-47. Before the game, we asked how many field goals the team would make. Georgetown made only 17 of its 53 attempts, which makes Bob from Columbia the closest. Good work, Bob. Unfortunately he did a better job predicting than the Hoyas did shooting.
We have now entered the postseason, so all questions are now worth double points. We will give you a rundown of who’s leading in the T-Shirt Race soon. But, first, let’s focus on the Hoyas’ upcoming game against UCONN.
The last time Georgetown played Connecticut, the Huskies’ victory started the Hoyas on their current downward trend. The Hoyas have struggled offensively without Chris Wright in the lineup, and Georgetown needs to find a way to score points without the senior point guard. That means the responsibility will fall on fellow senior Austin Freeman.
How many points will Austin Freeman score?
If the Hoyas want to advance to the quarterfinals, they will need a big day from Freeman. We think he will step up, scoring 30 points. Give us your thoughts in the comments, and remember, winner gets two points.

Before Georgetown’s 58-51 loss to Syracuse on Senior Day, we asked you who would be starting for the injured Chris Wright, and how many points would that player have. Hollis Thompson started in place of Chris, but scored just three points. That means Julien was the closest. Good job.
The Hoyas wrap up the regular season Saturday against Cincinnati. Georgetown lost the first meeting 58-46 in the team’s worst shooting game of the season, going just 25% from the field on 12-48 shooting. The Hoyas look for a much improved effort, or the team will enter the Big East Tournament on a three game losing skid.
How many field goals with the Hoyas make, and who will lead the team?
We think Georgetown will hit 28 shots, with senior Austin Freeman leading the way. Let us know your guesses in the comments.

Before the Cincinnati game, we asked everyone how many points and assists Chris would rack up against the Bearcats. We all know what happened in that game, and so everyone went over with their guesses. The closest, though, was Bobby Cox, so congratulations we guess. We’re sure Bobby would trade the win for a Hoya victory and a healthy Chris.
It is a huge game for the Hoyas on Saturday. It will be the first game since Chris Wright broke a bone in his hand. It is the final home game of the season. It is the final home game in the careers of the Hoya Seniors – Austin Freeman, Chris Wright, Julian Vaughn, and Ryan Dougherty. Oh, and the opponent is Syracuse.
On Thursday, the University released a statement about the status of Wright’s injury. However, there was no indication about how many games he would miss, if any. It’s almost certain, though, that he will miss at least the Syracuse game. So, on to the Pregame Prediction.
Assuming Chris Wright is NOT in the starting line-up, which player will start in his place and how many points and assists will that player have?
Our guess, Hollis Thompson with 14 Points, 3 Assists. It’s the safest move in terms of experience, but it will make some players have to shift roles a bit. What do you think?

The Hoyas beat South Florida 61-55 over the weekend behind a season-high 26 points from Chris Wright. The team was 51.2% from the field in the victory. We asked how you before the game how well the Hoyas would shoot from the floor, and since DBeck guessed 51%, he was the closest. Good work!
The Hoyas now have their first of two meetings with Cincinnati on Wednesday, and Georgetown needs a win to stay ahead of the pack in the hunt for the double-bye in the Big East Tournament. Tony talked today about how Chris Wright has stepped up his game in the past few weeks. Keeping with the theme, here is this week’s Pregame Predictions question:
How many points will Chris Wright have and (as a tiebreaker) how many assists?
We think Chris will continue shooting the ball well, putting up 22 points and dishing out five assists. Give us your guesses in the comments.

Georgetown lost to Connecticut in Hartford on Wednesday 78-70. The Pregame Predictions beforehand asked how many rebounds Georgetown would have. The Hoyas grabbed 35 boards in the loss, actually outrebounding the Huskies, which means amanda cox was exactly correct with her guess. Nicely done.
The Hoyas look to return to their winning ways this Saturday against South Florida. Georgetown is second in the nation in field goal percentage, shooting almost exactly 50% from the field on the season. However, in the past few games, the Hoyas have not been as successful, shooting seven percentage points under their average against UCONN. We want to know if the Hoyas will start getting higher percentage looks against the Bulls.
What will percentage will the Hoyas shoot from the field?
We think Georgetown will make a big improvement over last game, connecting on 55% of their shots. Let us know your guesses in the comments.

The Hoyas overcame a poor shooting performance to defeat Marquette 69-60 at Verizon Center on Sunday. Before the game, we asked you to guess how many assists the team would have. The Hoyas dished out 14 assists, led by Chris Wright’s five, which means we have a tie. Both Bobby in Tennessee and Bob from Columbia guessed 14, so they are both right. Good job, Bobs!
The Hoyas put their wining streak on the line tomorrow in Hartford, as they take on the Connecticut Huskies. The Huskies are one of the better rebounding teams in the league, averaging almost 41 rebounds a game, compared to Georgetown’s 34.3 a game. After the strong performance in the second half of the Marquette game on the boards, we wonder how the Hoyas will do against UCONN.
How many rebounds will the Hoyas have, and who will lead the team?
We think the Hoyas will grab 30 rebounds – hopefully because a lot of their shots go in – with Julian Vaughn leading the way. Post a comment with your prediction.

Georgetown stayed hot this Wednesday, beating Syracuse 64-56 to extend the team’s win streak to seven games. Before the Hoyas’ big win, we asked you to predict how many threes the team would make. The Hoyas were 9-21 from downtown, which means DBeck was spot on. Well done!
The Hoyas look to continue their winning streak at home on Sunday against Marquette. Georgetown did a great job of sharing the basketball against the Orange, picking up 20 assists on 24 field goals, including assists on the final 11 baskets of the game. In addition, Chris Wright had a conference career-high nine assists on the night. We want to know if the Hoyas continue to share the ball against the Golden Eagles.
How many assists will the team have?
We expect the ball movement and good looks to continue, so we are saying the Hoyas get 20 assists again. Post your pregame predictions in the comments.
