Georgetown vs. Syracuse: 01/14/2009
| Team | 1 | 2 | T |
| Syracuse (#8) | 32 | 42 | 74 |
| Georgetown (#13) | 50 | 38 | 88 |
Hello everyone. Johnny here from the Verizon Center, an hour away from tipoff between the Georgetown Hoyas and the Syracuse Orange. When Georgetown and Syracuse face off, you know it’s going to be a battle, but this game has particular importance as the Orange want to show the nation that they are one of the country’s elite and the Hoyas need a victory to stay in contention for their third consecutive Big East Title.
We may be over an hour away, but the student sections are already overflowing. (I didn’t even know they let students in this early, as they’ve been here longer than I have).
I’ll keep you posted with all the info you need and you guys know the drill by know: leave whatever thoughts and questions you have in the comments.
For now, I’ll leav you with tonight’s referees, since the starting lineups they show on the scoreboard have been known to change closer to tip-off. It’s gonna be Ed Hightower, Karl hess, and Brian O’Connell wearing the stripes.
I’ll post more when I’ve got more to say.

Here’s some interesting stuff for you:
1) The students started singing “Hey Baby” but changed the words to “I wanna know if you’ll beat my girl” for Devendorf. It looked like he laughed a bit at that.
2) Bryon Jansen is still not dressed. I never found out what was wrong with him after he had a crutch last week, but he didn’t seem to have any support today.
3) Hollis Thompson was not in a suit today… because he was warming up with the team. The Hoyas are in the locker room now. I wonder if he’ll shoot around next time they come out. Right now he’s not listed on any of the roster info I have, but technically he is eligible. Coach’s plans are to redshirt him.

Hoyas are back, and Hollis is in full warmups doing drills with the team again.

Here’s what I’ve got for the starting lineups:
For the Hoyas, it’ll be the usual five – Summers, Wright, Monroe, Freeman, and Sapp.
For the Orange, you’ll see Jackson, Rautins, Flynn, Harris, and Onauku out at the tip.
January 14th, 2009 at 7:14 pm
Refs just talked with the captains and DaJuan and Jessie were met by 4 Orange players. It looked like a convention at midcourt.
January 14th, 2009 at 7:25 pm

January 14th, 2009 at 7:41 pm

Summers had a monstruous dunk, but I think he got a technical.
January 14th, 2009 at 8:15 pm
Steal, monster jam, and Summers is laying on the floor afterwards. He gets up very angry because he landed in his back after being clobbered. No intentional and the fans are upset.

50 Points might be enough to win! No Let Up, please.
January 14th, 2009 at 8:27 pm
Hoyas up 18 at the break, but still plenty of basketball to be played. Also, with about three minutes left in the half, Andy Rautins went back to the lockerroom with a trainer. He got injured on a hustle play in the corner when he and Nikita dove for a loose ball.
January 14th, 2009 at 8:37 pm
great half for these youngsters. keep it up in the second!! cursh the orange
January 14th, 2009 at 8:39 pm
