Georgetown vs. Seton Hall: 01/14/2010
| Team | 1 | 2 | T |
| Seton Hall | 28 | 45 | 73 |
| Georgetown (#11) | 44 | 41 | 85 |
Hey everyone, Johnny here at Verizon Center about 45 minutes before the Georgetown Hoyas tipoff against the Seton Hall Pirates.
Both sides are coming off Saturday wins as Seton Hall earned their first conference win against Cincinnati, and the Hoyas came back from down 19 to beat Connecticut. In those games, each side had a player with 33 points – Austin Freeman for the Hoyas, and Jeremy Hazell for the Pirates. Who will show up tonight could decide this one.
Here’s what I know so far:
The refs are going to be Karl Hess, John Cahill, and Joe Lindsay.
Looks like it’s gonna be the same five starting for the Hoyas: Wright, Clark, Freeman, Vaughn, and Monroe.
For the Pirates, they should be starting Lawrence, Pope, Hazell, Mitchell, and Garcia.

John Cahill, I’m surprised they didn’t wait until the Duke game to assign him to us. Fans behind the bench keep quiet, we don’t want to get another incredibly atrocious tech.

They just announced that there’s a charity table set up here at Verizon Center to help provide support to Haiti.

@Mike,
Omari Faulkner is behind the Hoya bench. Hopefully he won’t say anything offensive.

Dr. Vincent Kelly’s back singing the National Anthem again. He’s rocking out a goatee now.
January 14th, 2010 at 7:04 pm
Hoyas lose the tip but Seton Hall came up empty on their first possession.
January 14th, 2010 at 7:05 pm
Hazell starts the scoring with a three, but the Hoyas get an alley-oop going the other way.
January 14th, 2010 at 7:05 pm
Austin hits his first shot of the game, a 3 to give the Hoyas their first lead 5-3.
January 14th, 2010 at 7:07 pm
Hey Johnny. What is your prediction for the outcome?
January 14th, 2010 at 7:10 pm
Monroe drove to the hoop, dished it off to Vaughn on the baseline, and Julian slammed it home while getting fouled.
He’ll be shooting one free throw after the 16:00 timeout. Hoyas up 10-7.
January 14th, 2010 at 7:11 pm
@Sean
I usually don’t make predictions. But let’s see, 10-7 at 16:00 timeout, hmm…100-70 final score.
January 14th, 2010 at 7:13 pm
Hollis checking in as the Hoyas’ first sub of the game.
January 14th, 2010 at 7:13 pm
Freeman powered his way in for two.
January 14th, 2010 at 7:15 pm
Hoyas push the lead up to 14-7 and Bobby Gonzalez wants a timeout.
January 14th, 2010 at 7:19 pm
21-7, another Seton Hall timeout.
January 14th, 2010 at 7:24 pm
After what looked like a clear travel on Hall, Benimon picked up two quick fouls.
January 14th, 2010 at 7:27 pm
Seton Hall went six minutes without a field goal there.

January 14th, 2010 at 7:53 pm
Hoyas are winning by 16, 44-28 at the half. The Pirates had cut the lead to 8 at one point, but Georgetown closed the half well, going on a 12-4 run in the last 3:40.
January 14th, 2010 at 7:55 pm
Hoyas up by 16 at the break. Georgetown has done a very good job of keeping Hazell under wraps. He only has 5 points, and with the exception of the wide open three he hit to start the game, he has had to work very hard to get his shot. If the hoyas can keep the clamps on him, they will be in good shape.
January 14th, 2010 at 8:16 pm
Greg just picked up foul #4 on the offensive end when he drove the lane and dished to Vaughn.

“Ladies and gentlemen, for the thousands here at the Verizon Center, and the millions watching at home, let’s shoot some T-shirts!”
January 14th, 2010 at 8:22 pm
Hoyas push the lead out to 19, and Seton Hall uses a timeout.

The Chevy Chase Bank Cash Giveaway took way too long, and the money went to a kid waving a big Chevy Chase check card poster upside-down.

Somehow Julian got called for a push when he had position and was boxing out. Seton Hall’s Mitchell went over the back and got to the ball, but he’s shooting free throws.
January 14th, 2010 at 8:30 pm
The fans all got to their feet as the Hoyas showed a lot of effort to get the ball. Austin dove out of bounds on the offensive end to save the ball from going out, but it went to the Hall.
He had to run cross court for defense, and he caught the ball as Sims blocked a shot towards midcourt. He then launched a cross court pass that got intercepted, but ran back to stop the Pirates fast break.
Then Sims wrestled the rebound away and got fouled.
January 14th, 2010 at 8:36 pm
Hoyas miss two straight front-ends of 1 and 1s.
January 14th, 2010 at 8:37 pm
Seton Hall has cut the lead to 9, and with 9:24 to play Greg checks back in with 4 fouls.
January 14th, 2010 at 8:39 pm
Shot clock is way off. I don’t know what happened, but the Hoyas got the rebound and dribbled up court. As they got to midcourt (maybe 3 or 4 seconds after collecting the rebound) I saw the shot clock reset from 25 to 25.
Nobody’s complaining though.
January 14th, 2010 at 8:42 pm
It’s the 8:00 timeout, and the Hoyas only lead by seven, 61-54.
Clark will be shooting two free throws, but the Hoyas haven’t scored a field goal since 12:57. That’s over five minutes of action.
January 14th, 2010 at 8:46 pm
Monroe blocks a shot (with 4 fouls), and outlets to Wright for the Hoyas’ first field goal in six minutes.
January 14th, 2010 at 8:52 pm
Herb Pope just foued out for Seton Hall. It’s the 4:00 timeout, Chris Wright will be shooting two, and Hoyas lead by 12.
January 14th, 2010 at 9:02 pm
Hoyas win this one 85-73. I’m off to the press room. Next up is Villanova on Sunday
