The Georgetown Hoyas exited the Big East Tournament after just one game, falling to Connecticut 62-79. The loss extends Georgetown’s losing streak to four games and drops the Hoyas to 21-10 on the season. The Huskies advance to take on top-seeded Pittsburgh tomorrow at noon, while the Hoyas now must wait to see what their fate will be on Sunday.

The contest was close early, and Hollis Thompson hit a three pointer to tie the score at 15 nine minutes into the game. The Huskies then went on a 15-point run to take a 37-22 lead. Connecticut led by 12, 42-30, at the break.

Things did not get better for Georgetown after the break, as the Huskies extended the lead to as many as 19 midway through the half. The Hoyas continued to fight to the finish, but the team did not have the offensive firepower and was never able to get the deficit into single digits in the second half.

Kemba Walker led all scorers with 28 points. Jason Clark had 23 for the Hoyas and Austin Freeman added 20, but the team again struggled shooting the ball, especially from beyond the arc, going just 5-22 on the three point field goals.

The Hoyas will now have to sweat it out until Selection Sunday to see if and when they will play again. While Georgetown will in all likelihood get into the NCAA Tournament, the seed that the Hoyas receive is very much in question.
