Mike’s Drexel Postgame Thoughts

Teams

Georgetown:
What a difference a game makes. After a lackluster performance in the season opener, the Hoyas came out focused and ready for their second game. The team jumped out of the gate, taking a 15-2 lead to start the game and never looked back. During that opening stretch, the Hoyas had suffocating defense, as the Dragons went 0-5 and committed two turnovers in the five minute span. And while the result was never in doubt, the team did a good job of not letting up, especially on the defensive end. Georgetown ended up with 13 steals to go along with four blocks, as Drexel shot a paltry 24.5% from the field on the day.

Many reporters will dismiss that as a coach downplaying his star player, to prevent opponents from knowing how good he is. Fortunately for the Hoyas, Coach Thompson is a little more focused on the team’s continuing progress than the reporters are.
