The Hoyas lost their first game of season, falling to Temple 68-65. Georgetown trailed the whole game but had the ball down one with 15 seconds to play and a chance to win. Coach Thompson elected not to use his timeout, and Hollis Thompson drove from the top of the key, but his contested shot hit the bottom of the rim. After two Temple free throws, Austin Freeman’s desperation three pointer was off the mark.

Georgetown fell in an early 6-0 hole, as the Hoyas had trouble with Temple’s defense all night. The Owls would lead by as many as 11 points in the first half and took a seven point lead into halftime. Georgetown kept the game close, cutting the lead to two on multiple occasions, and two free throws from Chris Wright tied the game at 56, but Ramone Moore answered right back with a three to give the Owls the lead for good.

Moore led all scorers with 30 points on 12-18 shooting. Jason Clark had 15 points to lead the Hoyas, but his last basket came just one minute into the second half.

The Hoyas look to get back on the winning track at Verizon Center on Sunday, taking on Appalachian State.
