In an entertaining battle between two top 20 teams, the Georgetown Hoyas outlasted the Memphis Tigers in overtime, 79-70.  Jessie Sapp made a thirty-foot three pointer as the game expired for the final margin. Until that point, neither team led by more than six.

DaJuan Summers led Georgetown with 21 points and seven rebounds.  Austin Freeman added 18 points.

The first half was an uptempoed affair, with both teams pushing the ball for fast break opportunities. Memphis used offensive rebounding to take a one point lead into halftime, scoring 16 second-chance points before the break.

After halftime, the Hoyas tightened things up defensively, holding Memphis to 12-40 from the field after the break, including 1-9 in the overtime.

The Hoyas have a week off before returning to the court. Georgetown will play host to Mount St. Mary’s next Saturday at 1:00 PM.
