Half-Decent
By Over the HilltopGeorgetown scuffled through the first twenty-plus minutes against an undermanned American squad Saturday. But then two adjustments, one at each end of the floor, led to a series of easy buckets that blew open a tight game. On offense, Henry Sims became the focal point, alternately feeding Hoya cutters and pounding the ball inside when looking for his own shot. On defense, the Hoyas ratcheted up the pressure, forcing a series of Eagle turnovers that led to still more easy Hoya points. Eventually, a game that had tightened to just four after the half became a twenty-plus point blowout.
Mike’s American Postgame Thoughts

Georgetown:
The Hoyas looked much better a week after a closer-than-it-should-have-been victory over Howard. This time, against another local rival, Georgetown started slowly but woke after the break to soundly defeat American. The offense looked very good in the second half, with the Hoyas picking apart the American defense for backdoor layups. Georgetown ended the day with 18 assists, a sign of effective passing and ball movement.
The defense also turned up the intensity in the second half, using high pressure to create turnovers and easy baskets. The Hoyas had 19 points off turnovers in the game, with 15 of those coming after the break. In short, the Hoyas simply overwhelmed American on both sides of the ball in the second half.
