Georgetown’s last home game of 2010 was no contest, with the Hoyas beating Loyola 99-75 in an offensive exhibition.
The Greyhounds scored the first basket of the game, but from then on it was all Georgetown, as the Hoyas exploited Loyola’s man-to-man defense with good ball movement and backdoor cuts. The Hoyas went into halftime up 50-27 thanks to an incredibly efficient first twenty minutes in which the Hoyas shot 78.3% from the field, missing only one two point field goal in the half.
With the game comfortably in hand, Coach Thompson was afforded the luxury of playing his reserves for most of the second half. Freeman and Clark only played six minutes in the second half, while Wright only played for five.
12 Hoyas got on the scorer’s sheet, with Hollis Thompson and Austin Freeman leading the way with 14 apiece. Reserves Sims and Lubick added 12 and 8 points respectively to go along with 5 assists each. Justin Drummond led the Greyhounds with 21 points in the loss.
Georgetown next travel to Memphis to take on the #18 ranked Tigers on Thursday, December 23. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:00pm, and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2.
