The Georgetown Hoyas ended their pre-conference schedule with an impressive 86-69 win on the road against the Memphis Tigers. Austin Freeman led all scorers with 24 points and Julian Vaughn had his second double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds as the Hoyas improved to 11-1.

The game was tight throughout the fast-paced first half. The teams traded mini-runs, the Hoyas, led by their backcourt, and the Tigers by their frontcourt. Georgetown led by four at the break, 40-36.

In the second half, Memphis tried to limit the Hoyas’ long distance shooting, but Georgetown extended their lead with inside scoring off of back-door passes and strong post play. The Hoyas started the second half 8-12 from the field. As the second half wore on, Memphis started to wear down, and Georgetown methodically pulled away, eventually leading by as many as 19.

The Hoyas will be back in action Wednesday when they open Big East play against Notre Dame at 7 PM, a game that will be televised on ESPN2.
