The Georgetown Hoyas lost their first Big East conference game, falling to Notre Dame 69-55. It was one of the worst performances of the year for the Hoyas, who looked lost offensively and indifferent on defense. The Hoyas drop to 0-1 in conference play for the first time under Coach John Thompson III.

Georgetown was out of sync for most of the game on the offensive end, with Notre Dame clogging the middle, preventing the Hoyas cuts from being effective. The Hoyas also allowed Notre Dame too many uncontested three point looks, and the Irish took advantage. Notre Dame used a large free throw advantage in the first half to take an early lead, as the Hoyas struggled to get stops. Georgetown trailed by eight, 36-28 at half time.

The second half saw more of the same, as the Irish used outside shooting to extend their lead. The Hoyas, on the other hand, were ice cold from three point range, shooting a dreary 4-22, 18%, on the night. Georgetown cut the lead to seven halfway through the second half, but they could not get stops when they needed them to make the game competitive.

Tim Abromaitis led the Irish with 20 points, shooting 5-7 from three point range. Austin Freeman led the Hoyas with 21 points.

The Hoyas look to bounce back in the new year, returning to Verizon Center to play DePaul on January 1st. Tip-off is at 1 PM.
