Yeah, brilliant article. The only reason they lost was that they played man to man. Something they obviously were told to do by their coach, to demonstrate how much more effective their 2-3 zone is.
And now they are #1.
So "top 25 rankings in November don’t translate to much in March" is obviously an absurd statement, considering Georgetown itself was ranked 20th in the preseason, and is now ranked an exceedingly different 19. Sometimes they do, and sometimes they don't, but ultimately judging any team on their preseason exhibition games is even more of an absurdity than judging them based on their preseason rankings.
And at least Syracuse has the balls to take the risks

Which school has a better mascot? The Le Moyne Dolphins or the Georgetown Hoyas.

I just checked the record books. Le Moyne played Georgetown in basketball during the 1952-1953 season. Georgetown won that game. I think it's time for a rematch!

Syracuse has a very talented team and a great coach. I think they are going to have a great year. Some people have a hard time accepting that Le Moyne just out played them that night. They probably did not watch the game.

Boeheim went on to say, “I like LeMoyne’s team,’’ he said. “They’re a good team; a very good team."

I prefer Coach Boeheims explanation, “Le Moyne really out-played us from the beginning of the game to the end.”

Good article, but the one thing you left out is that the only reason Syracuse lost to LeMoyne is that they played man-to-man defense the whole game and long, tall guys don't do well in mtm when they play small, quick guys. A zone would have whalloped LeMoyne, but that was not what the coach wanted to show his players.
