The Beat Down

By Hoya Hoops

This Wednesday, the Hoyas taught St. John’s the meaning of pain, crushing them by 32 points. We thought that it would be a good time to reminisce about old-fashioned beat downs of the past:

What is your favorite blow-out Hoya win?

While we have lots, one of our favorites is last year’s Big East Tournament Final. A thrashing even the greats would be proud of. Dominating from start to finish, the Hoyas defeated the Pittsburgh Panthers 65-42 to win their seventh Big East Tournament title. What are some of your favorites?

In the 2002 season the Hoyas won at BC by 27. Kevin Braswell, Mike Sweetney and company dismantled the team the was highly ranked at the time. Of course, that same year, despite a worse conference record BC got an at-large NCAA bid. Hmmm, a worse record and a 27-point home defeat head to head, we’ll give the bid to BC. Nice job, committee!

UNC game in Elite 8 last year. Wasn’t really a blowout, but we blew them out in overtime. It was like a clinic.
