- Georgetown lost their first Big East game of the season on Saturday, falling to the #3 Pittsburgh Panthers 70-54 at home. This comes after the Hoyas defeated #2 Connecticut on Monday.
- Several Top 10 teams fell over the past week, highlighted by #1 North Carolina losing 85-78 to Boston College in Chapel Hill. Besides UNC and UCONN, #4 Oklahoma, #7 Notre Dame, and #9 Purdue all lost during the past few days.
- Georgetown recruit Hollis Thompson has graduated high school early and has already been accepted into Georgetown. He will be enrolling for the Spring 2009 semester and will be practicing with the team. Thompson is not expected to play in any games this season, but he was on the sidelines during the loss to Pitt wearing a suit.
- Dikembe Mutombo has re-signed with the Houston Rockets for the remainder of the season. Inactive for his first two games as a Rocket and left out of the game on Saturday, he has still yet to see any minutes in his most recent comeback.
