Markel Starks MVPThe 37th Annual Capital Classic took place at American University’s Bender Arena last night. For nearly four decades, this High-School All-Star game has included some of the best local players from the D.C. Metro Area as well as some of the greatest players that have ever played basketball.

In the most recent edition, the Capital All-Stars defeated the U.S. All-Stars 117-108. Markel Starks, who will be playing for Georgetown in the fall, was named the game’s most valuable player.

Starks, who played for Georgetown Prep in Rockville and was coached by former Hoya Dwayne Bryant, scored 18 points on 8-13 shooting from the field. Starks shot 2 for 5 from three-point range.

Starks was one of three future Hoyas on display in the game. Moses Abraham, who recently committed to Georgetown, played for 13 minutes and collected 2 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 assist. Nate Lubick played 20 minutes, scored 8 points (4-6 FG) and grabbed 4 rebounds for the U.S. All-Stars.

We sent Tony out to American University to cover the game, so stay tuned for more coverage of last night’s Capital Classic.
