Georgetown dropped its second game in a row and third out of four, losing to Syracuse on Senior Day 51-58. The Hoyas fall to 10-7 in Big East games, and the team now runs the risk of dropping to ninth in the conference and having to play a Tuesday game in the Big East Tournament.

The Hoyas were cold from beyond the arc in the first half, making just 2 out 12, an went into the locker room trailing by 10, 23-33.

Georgetown used a 12 point run in the second half to take a 45-43 advantage with 10:02 remaining in the game, but only scored six points down the stretch. Jason Clark had a potential game tying three pointer partially blocked, and then free throws by Syracuse iced the game.

Austin Freeman had 16 points for the Hoyas, with fellow senior Chris Wright unable to play due to the injury to his left hand. Syracuse was led by Scoop Jardine who had a game high 17, highlighted by a fadeaway jumper followed by a three-pointer in the final minutes.

Georgetown has a week off to dwell on this loss before they return to the court for the season finale against Cincinnati. The Hoyas – Bearcats rematch is scheduled for 2:00pm on Saturday.
