Hollis Thompson Enters Draft

By Hoya Hoops

Georgetown sophomore guard Hollis Thompson has entered his name in the NBA Draft but has not signed an agent. He began the year as a starter, but was replaced mid-season by freshman Nate Lubick. His announcement comes just a few days after fellow sophomore Vee Sanford made it known that he would be transferring from Georgetown. Since Thompson does not have an agent, he has until May 8th to make a final decision about his future. Should he withdraw his name, he would be able to return to play for the Hoyas next season.

Vee Sanford to Transfer

By Hoya Hoops

According to The Hoya, sophomore reserve guard Vee Sanford is transferring from Georgetown to an as yet undisclosed university. Due to the size of the incoming freshman class and the availability of scholarships, there was some speculation that someone would be transferring, and now those rumors have been confirmed, according to Sports Information Director Mex Carey. Here is Vee’s tweet regarding his decision:

2011 Pick 8 Winner

By Hoya Hoops

Connecticut’s 53-41 win over Butler in the NCAA Tournament final on Monday brings an end to this year’s college basketball season, as well as the 2011 NCAA Pick 8.

This year, our champion is Ken Krum who went 17-7, or 70.8%. And while that is lower than the winning percentage of last year’s champion Mark D at 73.1%, it is still good enough to earn Ken a Hoya Hoops T-Shirt.

Congratulations Ken, and please contact us at so we can get your size and address and send you your shirt.

T-Shirt Time

By Hoya Hoops

The Hoyas’ season ended with a 74-56 loss to VCU, a loss that does not look as bad considering the Rams’ Final Four run. For what turned out to be our final Pregame Predictions of the season, we asked you to guess how many turnovers Georgetown would have. The Hoyas committed 17 turnovers, which means that Julien’s prediction was closest, and he gets two points.

With the season over, we can now look at the final standings:

Winner # of Wins
Billy cox 5
Bobby cox 4
DBeck 4
Hoya Chris 4

Bob from Columbia 3
Bobby in Tennessee 3

NCAA Tournament Final Recap

By Hoya Hoops

The Connecticut Huskies defeated the Butler Bulldogs 53-41 to win their third national championship. The Huskies were led by Kemba Walker’s 16 points, but the real story of the game was Butler’s ineptitude on the offensive end, as they shot an abysmal 18.8% from the field on the night.
