Now that the college basketball season is over, we can announce the winners of our two t-shirt contests.
First, before Georgetown’s season ended prematurely to North Carolina State, we asked how many points Hollis Thompson would score. He ended up leading all scorers with 23 points, in what would end up being his final game in the blue and gray. That makes billy cox the closest with his guess of 24, doubling his point total for the season. Here’s a look at the final standings.

As you can see, after an entire season of Pregame Predictions, Bob from Columbia and bobby cox are tied for first. And, as John Thompson Jr has so frequently said, we don’t do no overtime, so they both win t-shirts. Nicely done by both Bobs.
We had another contest, the NCAA Pick 8, where you pick eight teams of different seeds and the person with the highest winning percentage is the champion. This year there was plenty of drama, as the entry with the best winning percentage was disqualified for having two #4 seeds. Then, there was a tie for first place, but only one of the two contestants submitted a tiebreaker. When all the dust settled, Emily was the champion, with a winning percentage of 77.8%. Congratulations, Emily.
Emily, bobby cox, and Bob from Columbia, you are each due a t-shirt. Please contact us at so we can get your address and send it to you. To everyone else, including the Hoyas, better luck next year.

Before the Belmont game, we asked you how many points Jason and Hollis would combine for in the Hoyas’ NCAA opener. Jason had a great performance, putting up a game-high 21 points, while Hollis only added 6. So that means that Bob from Columbia is the closest with his guess of a combined 27. The postseason prediction earns him two points, and that means that he and Bobby cox are tied in the hunt for the Hoya Hoops T-Shirt.
The Hoyas will now face NC State in the Third Round of the NCAA Tournament. The two teams met last year in the Championship game of the Charleston Classic, and the Hoyas were victorious thanks to a big game from Hollis Thompson. It’s similar to the last question, but since #1 did not have his best game against Belmont and he’s had a history of stepping up his game in the tournament, we’re going to ask it anyway.
How many points will Hollis Thompson score against NC State?
We’ll say he’ll get back into the swing of things and score right around his average – 13 points. What do you think?

Before Georgetown’s double overtime loss to Cincinnati, we asked you to predict how many points and rebounds Henry Sims would amass. Henry had another great performance, 22 points and 15 rebounds to get a double-double for the second straight game. Unfortunately, the Hoyas fell just a little short on the day. Amanda cox was the closest again with her guess of 19 and 12, so she adds another two points to her t-shirt total. Let’s see how the standings look after the Big East Tournament:

The Big East Tournament catapulted Amanda cox into second place. But with each win now worth two points, if the Hoyas can get a few wins, everyone still has a chance.
Georgetown tips off against Belmont Friday afternoon, around 3 PM. Jason Clark and Hollis Thompson were relatively quiet in the Big East Tournament scoring a total of 32 points in the two games. In the team’s last NCAA Tournament appearance, the two combined to score 35 points. They will have to step up their games entering March Madness.
How many points will Jason Clark and Hollis Thompson combine to score?
We think Clark understands these will be his final games in the blue and gray, and his play will reflect that. He will put up 18 and Thompson will chip in 16 to combine for 34 points. Give us your pregame prediction in the comments. And don’t forget to get your Pick 8 teams in before Thursday at noon.

The Hoyas opened up their 2012 Big East Tournament run with an impressive 64-52 win over Pittsburgh. Before the game, we asked how freshman Otto Porter would perform in his first tournament game at Madison Square Garden. He did not disappoint, putting up a game-high 20 points and grabbing six rebounds. Amanda cox’s prediction of 18 points and seven rebounds was pretty close and good enough to earn her two points. Nice job!
Next up for Georgetown is Cincinnati, who beat the Hoyas at Verizon Center back in January. Henry Sims is coming off one of the best performances of his career, matching Porter’s 20 points, but also pulling down 13 rebounds and dishing out five assists. We wonder if he can repeat his performance against the Bearcats.
How many points will Henry Sims score against Cincinnati, and how many rebounds will he collect?
We will say he has another stellar game, 22 points and nine rebounds. Give us your guesses in the comments.

The Hoyas fell to the Marquette Golden Eagles 83-69 in the last game of the regular season. We asked you to predict when the Hoyas would hit their final field goal. Hollis Thompson’s jumper with 1:18 to go in the game would prove to be the final points for Georgetown in the loss, which makes bobby cox’s guess the closest. Nice work.
Now that the regular season is over, let’s take a look at the t-shirt standings:

Now that it’s tournament time and every game is critical, we will raise the stakes in our Pregame Predictions as well, as now every correct answer will be worth two points, so it’s still anyone’s game. Here’s the first question of the postseason.
After defeating St. John’s in the opening round, Pittsburgh has advanced to face the 5th seeded Hoyas. The last time these teams met, Georgetown struggled on both ends of the court and fell on the road. One bright spot in that game was Otto Porter who led the Hoyas with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocks. After being omitted from the Big East All-Rookie team, we’re wondering how Otto will do in his first Big East Tournament game.
How many points will Otto Porter score against Pitt, and how many rebounds will he collect?
We’re going to go with the same numbers as last time 14 and 6. What are your guesses?

The Hoyas went 2-0 in their final two home games of the season, handily defeating Villanova 67-46 on Saturday and Notre Dame 59-41 on Monday. Jason Clark and Henry Sims combined to score 52 points in those games, an average of 26 points per game for the two seniors. Before the game we asked how many points our seniors would score, and Blark was only off by three points with a guess of 55 points. Well done, Blark!
Georgetown wraps up the Big East regular season with a trip to Milwaukee to take on Marquette on Saturday. The last time the two teams played it was a thriller, with the Hoyas rallying from a 17 point second half deficit to claim a dramatic victory. The Golden Eagles certainly have not forgotten that game, and will be looking for revenge. For this game’s Pregame Predictions, we will be taking the question from one of our followers. Before the second St. John’s game, we asked when the Hoyas would score their first field goal. Bob from Columbia suggested a tweak to make it more exciting, so we will be following his advice.
When will Georgetown score its last field goal of the game?
Remember, we are talking last field goal, not last points, so end of the game free throws will not count. Our guess is the Hoyas will score with 2.2 seconds left in the game, since we expect this one to go down to the wire. Let us know your guesses in the comments.

Before Georgetown’s thrashing at the hands of Seton Hall, we asked which two Hoyas would combine to lead the team in scoring. But, since Greg Whittington led the team with nine points and no one guessed him as part of their duo, no one wins this round, which appropriately makes us all losers after the Seton Hall game.
The Hoyas look to forget about their past performance and close out the Big East season on a high note. Georgetown’s home season comes to a close with a pair of games against Villanova on Saturday and Notre Dame on Monday. That means it will be the last times that Henry Sims and Jason Clark will wear blue and gray at Verizon Center. To honor the two seniors, we have this question:
How many points will the seniors combine for in the two games?
To sweeten the pot we will double the points awarded for the closest answer. We are guessing 20 point performances by both of the seniors in both games, which translates to 80 points. Leave us your predictions below.

For the second time this season, Georgetown defeated Providence, this time winning 63-53. In the first meeting, the Friars shot just 25.5% from the field, so in our Pregame Predictions, we asked you to guess what percentage the Friars would shoot the second time around. As it turned out, the Friars were virtually the same, going 25.9% from the floor. All the guesses we received were over, with Hoya Chris having the closest guess of 27%, which makes him this game’s winner. Great job.
The Hoyas look to improve on their 10-4 conference record tonight against the Pirates of Seton Hall. Georgetown has been getting offense from a variety of sources, so we thought we’d ask about two teammates.
Which two Georgetown players will combine for the most points, and how many will they score?
We are saying that the duo of Henry Sims and Markel Starks will lead the Hoyas, putting up 34 points between the two of them. Let us know in the comments which pair of Hoyas you think will get the job done.

Georgetown completed the sweep of the season series against St. John’s, defeating the Red Storm 71-61 last Sunday. We asked you to predict when the Hoyas would make their first field goal. The question was suggested by bobby cox, and it seems like he may have had some insider information, since his guess of 19:44 was the closest, with Georgetown scoring just 19 seconds into the game. Congratulations.
The Hoyas continue their rematch tour, now traveling to Providence for a game this Saturday. The last time these two teams met, the Hoyas beat the Friars 49-40 in one of the team’s worst shooting performances of the year. Georgetown shot just 30.5% from the floor, which was still five percentage points better than Providence. The Hoyas have done a good job recently holding teams to poor shooting nights, and if they can keep the Friars anywhere near the 25.5% they shot last time, Georgtown will be in good shape.
What will Providence’s field goal percentage be?
We think Providence will shoot 35%, better than last time but still fairly low. Leave us your guesses in the comments.

The Hoyas came up just short of pulling off a big upset, losing to Syracuse in overtime 64-61. With Henry Sims and Jason Clark both experiencing foul trouble, the Georgetown bench had to step up, and they did, scoring 23 points, led by Otto Porter’s 14. Before the game, we asked you to predict how many points the Hoya reserves would score. And with her guess of 24, amanda cox was the closest. Congratulations!
The Hoyas next opponent is St. John’s, one of three Big East teams that the Hoyas will play twice during the conference season. Georgetown won the first contest at Madison Square Garden 69-49. Before the last meeting, we had a request for a particular Pregame Predictions question. Since we didn’t ask it last time, we will use bobby cox’s question for this game.
When will Georgetown score its first field goal of the game?
We are guessing that the Hoyas will score on their first possession, and we will say that the shot will go in at the 19:37 mark of the first half. Let us know how long you think it will take the Hoyas to score by posting your guesses in the comments.
