The Hoyas dropped their second game in three days, falling to the Cincinnati Bearcats 64-68 at Verizon Center. Georgetown started the game off strong, shooting off to a seven point lead early on. But Cincinnati clawed their way back in it quickly, and the rest of the half was a closely fought contest that saw eight lead changes. Hollis Thompson hit a last second three-pointer to give the Hoyas a 34-32 edge heading into halftime.

Despite the Hoyas’ leading for most of the second half, Cincinnati went ahead 60-59 with 2:12 remaining, leading to a tense final minutes. Two free throws by Henry Sims put the Hoyas back in front, but a close goaltending call against Sims made it 62-61 for the Bearcats. After some free throws for each side, Georgetown found themselves down by two with the ball but could not convert on two opportunities down the stretch. Free throws from Dion Dixon sealed the victory for the Bearcats who have now won three straight against the Hoyas.

Cincinnati’s Sean Kilpatrick led all scorers with 27, while Jason Clark and Hollis Thompson led the Hoyas with 14 apiece. The Hoyas’ next game is on Sunday at Madison Square Garden as they face the St. John’s Red Storm.
