The Georgetown Hoyas ended their two-game losing skid in impressive fashion, beating St. John’s 69-49. The Hoyas were led by Hollis Thompson who had 20 points including five three pointers, and Otto Porter added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Moe Harkless had 21 points and 11 rebounds, both game-highs, for the Red Storm before fouling out with five minutes to play.

Both teams shot the ball poorly in a very physical first half, as the Hoyas found themselves down eight early and started the game just 4-20 from the field. But, Georgetown was able to right the ship, using a 12-0 run to regain the lead and take a six point advantage into the locker room, 25-19.

The second half saw Georgetown start to take control of the game. The team’s ball movement helped get open looks and St. John’s attempt to pick up the tempo backfired, as the Hoyas were able to get quick scores to increase the lead to as many as 12 midway through the second half. Offensive rebounding also played a key role for the Hoyas, as Georgetown grabbed 17 offensive boards that lead to second chance points.

The Red Storm did not give up, however, and were able to cut the lead to three with six minutes left. But, the Hoyas responded with a three pointer on the ensuing possession to start a 12-2 run that put the game out of reach.

The Hoyas stay on the road, as Georgetown travels to Chicago to take on DePaul. Tip-off against the Blue Demons is set for 7 PM, with coverage on ESPN2.
