The Hoyas dropped their third conference game in a row and fourth of five, losing in a blowout to Pittsburgh 72-57. Georgetown falls to 1-4 in conference play for the first time under Coach Thompson III, as the dubious distinctions start to mount for this year’s side.

The Hoyas looked out of sorts in the first half, allowing the Panthers open three point looks and layups. Georgetown also struggled from the free throw line, making just four of 14 in the first half. The Hoyas trailed by 17 at the break, 41-24.

Things did not improve for Georgetown in the second half. The Panthers pushed out their lead to as many 22 before Georgetown slowly tried to climb back into the game. However, the Hoyas were never able to get the lead to single digits and lost their second straight home game.

Ashton Gibbs led all scorers with 22 points for Pitt, while Chris Wright had 14 points and for assists for the Hoyas in the loss.

Georgetown now travels to Rutgers in hopes of ending their three game losing streak. The Hoyas take on the Scarlet Knights at noon on Saturday at The RAC.
