For the third time in four years, the Georgetown Hoyas will be playing in the Big East Championship game. Georgetown put together another solid performance in New York, dismantling the 5th seeded Marquette Golden Eagles 80-57 in front of a sellout crowd at Madison Square Garden.

The Hoyas jumped out to a quick lead, scoring the first seven points, and eventually stretched out to an 11 point lead. But Marquette hung tough and tied the score with five minutes left in the half. At the break, Georgetown was up three, 37-34.

The second half remained tight for the first ten minutes. After Coach Thompson called a timeout with 10:38 remaining, the Hoyas went on 22-4 run to secure their 13th trip to the Big East Tournament title game.

For the second time in two days, sophomore Greg Monroe had 10+ points and rebounds to go with seven assists in the winning effort. He led all scorers with 23 points while Chris Wright and Jason Clark added 15 points apiece.

The Hoyas will face the winner of the Notre Dame-West Virginia Semifinal tomorrow night at 9:00pm.
