In the first game of the 2007-08 Season, the Georgetown Hoyas defeated the William and Mary Tribe 68 – 53 in front of an unusually lively home crowd at the Verizon Center.
After a slow first half, highlighted by Jessie Sapp’s 10 points off of 3-7 shooting, including 2-3 from downtown, the Hoyas found themselves up by five, 35-30, at the break.
In the second half, Roy Hibbert showed why he was the preseason Big East MVP by going 7 for 8 in the half, to end up with 23 points.
For the Tribe, guards David Schneider and Laimis Kisielius did the most damage, scoring 14 and 16 points respectively.
