The Georgetown Hoyas opened the season with a road victory over the Tulane Green Wave 74-58. The Hoyas sprinted out of the gates, starting the game on a 11-0 run, but the Green Wave battled back, cutting the Georgetown lead to five at halftime.
The Hoyas started the second half like they did the first, going on a 7-0 run and eventually took a commanding 23 point lead and coasted the rest of the way.
Greg Monroe’s homecoming was a sweet one, impressing his family and friends and hometown crowd with a 18 point, 11 rebound performance. Austin Freeman added 16, and Jason Clark had a strong performance in his first game as a starter.
The Hoyas’ home opener is Tuesday, as they take on the Temple Owls at Verizon Center. To accommodate the ESPN 24 Hours of Basketball, tip-off is at the unusual time of 4:00 PM.
