The Georgetown Hoyas defeated the Lafayette Leopards in impressive fashion, winning 97-64. The game started out close, mostly attributed to three-point shooting. The Leopards started out on fire, hitting five of their first seven attempts from beyond the arc, while the Hoyas struggled, making only three of their 12 three point attempts in the half. But the Leopards would cool down, and the Hoyas closed out the first half with a 11-3 run to take a 45-31 lead into the break.
In the second half, the Hoyas raised their level of play, shooting an incredible 75% from the field, and 87.5% from downtown. With the game well in hand, Coach Thompson let his reserves log some minutes, and they did not disappoint. Georgetown got 28 points from the bench on 11-13 shooting. It was a dominant offensive showing all around for the Boys in Gray.
Ten Georgetown players scored, with six registering double figures. Clark’s game-high 19 points marks the third time this season that he has set a career-high. Hollis Thompson was perfect on the day, scoring 14 points on 6-6 shooting, 4-4 from three-point land.
The Hoyas now face a quick turnaround, taking on Mount St. Mary’s this Monday, with tip-off at 7:00 PM.
