The Georgetown Hoyas coasted to a 73-46 win over the American Eagles to remain perfect on the season. The Hoyas trailed 7-4, but responded with a 15-2 run to take all the suspense out of the game. Georgetown led by 11 at the half.

The Hoyas continued to roll after the break, taking a 31 point lead with eight minutes remaining. At that point Coach Thompson began experimenting with the lineup, as a total of 10 Hoyas saw at least ten minutes of action.

It was a balanced performance for the Hoyas, with everyone contributing. Chris Wright and Henry Sims each scored a dozen points, Greg Monroe and Julian Vaughn combined for 20 rebounds and six blocks, and Jason Clark added five steals.

American was led by Junior guard Nick Hendra’s 14 points. Stephen Lumpkins, the Eagles’ leading scorer coming into the game, was held to just two points, shooting a frigid 1-17 from the field. Jeff Jones’ Eagles fall to 1-8 on their season, with their only win against another area team, Howard.

Georgetown next take on the #23 Butler Bulldogs in the Jimmy V Classic. That game is slated for Tuesday at 7:00 PM at Madison Square Garden.
