The Hoyas again used a great defensive effort to earn another conference win, this time defeating South Florida 75-45. Before tip-off, we ask you in our Pregame Predictions what the combined point total for the game would be. BLark was exactly correct with his response of 120 points. Despite his attempt to change his answer, we will still give him the win since he hit the nail on the head with his guess.
Georgetown now takes part in ESPN’s Rivalry Week, taking on Syracuse at the Carrier Dome in the two team’s only scheduled meeting. Much has been made about Syracuse’s depth, and the Orange’s bench is one of the best in the country in terms of point production. The Hoyas’ reserves have to be ready to answer the call.
How many points will the Georgetown bench score?
We anticipate the bench will get a lot of minutes, so our guess is 22 points. Give us your predictions in the comments.

The Hoyas soundly beat Connecticut Wednesday, with Hollis Thompson having a team-high 18 points and nine rebounds. Before the game, we got your predictions on which Hoya would lead the team, and with how many points. Bobby in NC guessed Hollis would have 19, which was the closest, so he gets the win, as did the Hoyas. Nicely done.
Georgetown’s next opponent is South Florida. The Bulls have won four of their last five conference games and sit at 6-3 in Big East play, just a half game behind the Hoyas. And while the Hoyas held the Huskies to their lowest scoring output of the season of 44 in their last game, the Bulls put up 81 in their most recent contest, South Florida’s season high. We wonder where the final score will end up tomorrow.
How many points will USF and Georgetown combine to score?
We think this will be a a little higher scoring than the Connecticut game, with Georgetown probably getting into the 60s. We are guessing the total points scored will be 122. Leave a comment with your predictions.

Before Georgetown’s 72-60 loss to Pittsburgh, we asked you to predict what the Hoyas’ field goal percentage would be. The Hoyas shot a mediocre 42% on the day, meaning that the lowest guess, bobby cox’s guess of 39%, was the closest. Nice job. I guess.
[Edit: There was some confusion over the winner of the last contest. Technically, we at Hoya Hoops were closest to 42% with our guess of 44%. But since we don't need to win our own contest, we gave it to the next closest guess. However, we made a clerical error, since billy cox was the rightful winner with a guess of 45%. So, we have decided to give billy a point; but to be nice, we are letting bobby keep the point we awarded him. Hopefully that makes everyone happy.]
The Hoyas look to bounce back tomorrow night against Connecticut. In Georgetown’s last four games, the team has had a different leading scorer each time. We wonder which Hoya will step up to help Georgetown earn a W.
Which Georgetown player will lead the team in scoring, and how many points will he have?
We think it’s Jason Clark’s turn to shine, putting up 30 points against the Huskies. Tell us who you think will lead the Hoyas in the comments.

In our last Pregame Predictions, we asked you to guess what Georgetown’s free throw percentage would be against Rutgers. The Hoyas were 25-36, 69.4%, from the line against the Scarlet Knights, and Georgetown needed every one of those points to eke out a 52-50 win. Roy 55 was the closest with his guess of 70, giving him his first win of the year.
Georgetown’s next opponent is Pittsburgh, who started the Big East season 0-7 before finally picking up a conference win Wednesday against Providence. The Hoyas would like to make sure the Panthers don’t start a winning streak at their expense, but, to ensure that, Georgetown must shoot the ball significantly better than it did against Rutgers.
What will Georgetown’s field goal percentage be?
While the Panthers may be having a down year, they will still bring intensity on the defensive end, so we will say the Hoyas will shoot 44% from the field, an improvement for sure, but not a lights out performance against a historically tough defensive team. Let us know what you think in the comments.

The Hoyas remained undefeated against DePaul since the Blue Demons joined the conference in 2005, although Georgetown’s 83-75 win on Tuesday was perhaps the closest game during that streak. In the end it was an outstanding performance from senior leader and birthday boy Jason Clark that helped spur the team on to victory. There were in fact two Hoyas who celebrated their birthdays on the Monday before the game, and we asked you how many points Clark and John Caprio would combine to score. While Caprio did not enter the game, Clark put up a career-best 31 points to lead all scorers. Not surprisingly, everyone was under with their guesses, but since Zo was the closest with his guess of 26 points, he wins. Congratulations.
Georgetown plays host to Rutgers tomorrow. The Hoyas are coming off one of their worst free throw shooting nights of the year, hitting just over 57% of their shots from the charity line. In fact, since entering Big East play, the Hoyas are only 65% from the stripe. With many close games anticipated throughout the rest of the season and entering March, every point is critical.
What will Georgetown’s free throw percentage be?
We have a feeling that Coach Thompson stressed free throw shooting this week, so we will guess a much-improved 80% from the line. Let us know what you think in the comments.

Georgetown returned to its winning ways Sunday against the Red Storm, defeating St. John’s 69-49 at Madison Square Garden. Before the game, we asked you to predict how many turnovers the Hoyas would commit. Georgetown had 12 miscues in the win, which means that Bob in NC was the only one to be exactly correct. Good job, Bob!
The Hoyas take on DePaul tomorrow looking to improve to 5-2 in conference play. As you may or may not know, two current Hoyas celebrated their birthdays yesterday. In honor of the birthday boys, we put forth this Pregame Predictions question:
How many points with Jason Clark and John Caprio combine for?
We doubt that Caprio will get much if any playing time, but we will say 22 points combined. Give us your guesses in the comments, and we wish Jason and John many happy returns!

Georgetown lost its second straight conference game, falling to Cincinnati 68-64 at Verizon Center. In that game, the Hoyas outrebounded the Bearcats 26-23. In the Pregame Predictions before the game we asked what the rebounding margin would be. Hoya Chris was the only one to guess the Hoyas would be +3 on the boards, so he wins. Nice job.
Against Cincinnati, Georgetown shot almost 60% from the field, but still was not able to pull out the victory. This was in part due to the 17 turnovers the Hoyas committed. With an important road game against St. John’s looming, the Hoyas must do a better job of taking care of the ball.
How many turnovers will the Hoyas commit?
We are going to go out on a limb and guess that Georgetown will only turn the ball over five times against the Red Storm. Leave your predictions in the comments below.

The Hoyas dropped their first conference game of the season on Saturday, losing to West Virginia 74-62. We asked before the game how many points the Big Three would score. The trio of Jason Clark, Henry Sims, and Hollis Thompson combined for 40 points, which means that bobby cox was exactly correct. Nicely done!
Georgetown looks to get back on the winning track tonight at home against Cincinnati. A disturbing trend for the team recently has been rebounding, as the Hoyas have been outrebounded in each of the past three games. In close games, a few boards can make all the difference.
What will the rebounding margin be, and, as a tiebreaker, who will lead the team?
Our guess is that the Hoyas will be +1, with Otto Porter leading the way. Put your +/- guesses in the comments.

Georgetown fans are still high off the team’s thrilling 73-70 comeback victory over Marquette on Wednesday. In the win, the Hoyas had four blocks with Henry Sims getting half of them. Before the game we asked you to predict the number of rejections the Hoyas would have, and Julien was exactly right with his guess. Nice job!
Tomorrow, the Hoyas return to the road, travelling to Morgantown to take on West Virginia. Yesterday, Tony talked about Georgetown’s Big Three of Sims, Jason Clark, and Hollis Thompson, and their performance down the stretch against Marquette. We wonder how they will fare against the Mountaineers.
How many points will Sims, Clark, and Thompson combine for?
We think they will put up 50 points against the Mountaineers. Give us your guesses in the comments.

Before the Hoyas’ Big East home opener on Saturday, we asked everybody how many points the Georgetown underclassmen would score against the Friars. Nobody expected a final score in the 40s that only led to 18 points from the freshmen and sophomores, but billy cox was the closest with his guess of 22, so congratulations billy!
On to tonight’s game! Marquette has been playing without center Chris Otule since he received a knee injury in their game against Washington back at the beginning of December. Without their 6’11″ big man, Marquette is not that long of a team, and against the much smaller Providence, Henry Sims picked up a career-high five blocks. That leads to today’s question:
How many blocks will the Hoyas collect against Marquette, and who will block the most shots?
We don’t want to win our own competition, and there aren’t too many good options for guessing here, so we’ll go to the extreme and guesss 15 with Trawick leading the way.
Post your more reasonable guesses below.
