Old Dominion Recap
By Hoya HoopsThe Georgetown Hoyas improved to 4-0 on the season with their second road win of the year, a 66-48 victory against Old Dominion.
In front of a capacity crowd in Norfolk, VA, the Hoyas made sure the home fans never had very much to cheer about. The Hoyas led from the beginning of the game, with the Monarchs keeping the game close for the first half. Old Dominion tied the score at 21-21 late in the first period, forcing Georgetown Coach John Thompson III to call a timeout. From that point, the Hoyas went on a 20-3 scoring run extending well into the second half.
Roy Hibbert led the Hoyas with 14 points, and freshman Austin Freeman scored a career-high 11. These two players also combined for the play of the game, a give-and-go with Hibbert feeding Freeman for an emphatic dunk.
Freeman was not the only Hoya reserve to make an impact, as the Georgetown bench outscored Old Dominion’s 26-13. Gerald Lee scored a career-high 24 points in the losing effort, but only managed 8 points in the second half.
Georgetown returns to action this Saturday at the Verizon Center when they host Fairfield University.
