Memphis Recap
By Hoya HoopsGeorgetown lost its first game of the season, losing to the Memphis Tigers, 85-71. Douglas-Freeman had a game-high 24 points, as the Hoyas drop to 8-1 on the season.
In the first half, the Hoyas led by as many as eight but missed on several opportunities to push the lead farther. Memphis closed the half on a 16-5 run to take a three point lead heading into the break.
Georgetown briefly regained the lead early in the second half, before Memphis went on another big run, to take a 17 point lead. The Hoyas were never in sync offensively at that point, and Memphis did an excellent job on the boards, outrebounding the Hoyas 43-30. Austin Freeman led the Hoyas in scoring for the third straight game, but for the first time in a losing effort.
The Hoyas next game is December 29th against local rivals American University. That game is set to begin at 1:00PM at the Verizon Center.

Is Roy Hibbert Overrated?
“I need to make myself more assertive” was the line Roy Hibbert gave after a 6 point, 6 rebound effort (if you can call it that) in a loss to #2 Memphis. That lack of aggressiveness has been the knock on this guy since he entered the college basketball spotlight. At 7′2, 275 pounds that is not what any coach or potential GM wants to hear from their starting center.

people said the same thing about jeff green, sometimes he wasnt assertive enough. but i dont think he was overrated, and i dont think roy is either. its hard, cause we havent been feeding him the ball too much, since we wanted to get the freshmen involved more. but, after this game, its time to pound it in, let him get 30 points against american and get his rhythm. we’ll see how this season pans out, but i think roy will live up to all the hype by the end of the season.
