By Hoya HoopsGeorgetown began their NCAA Tournament with a 66-47 win over the UMBC Retrievers. Jonathan Wallace and Roy Hibbert led the Hoyas with 13 points a piece, and Patrick Ewing scored 10 points off the bench to go along with four assists and two steals.
The game was tied at 14 midway through the first half but Georgetown closed on a 20-8 run, capped off by a Chris Wright three-pointer at the buzzer to make it 34-22 at the break. In the second half, the Retrievers never cut the lead to single-digits. Darryl Proctor had sixteen points, nine rebounds, and seven steals in a losing effort for the America East Champions.
The Hoyas advance to face Davidson Sunday at 2:50 PM, with a place in the Sweet Sixteen on the line.
