Georgetown soundly defeated Seton Hall, 85-73, showing no let down after the team’s emotional win over UCONN. The Hoyas improve to 13-2 on the season and 4-1 in conference play. The Pirates drop to 1-4 in the Big East.

Georgetown started the game firing on all cylinders, hitting nine of their first 12 shots en route to a 21-7 lead. The Hoyas would take a 16 point lead into the locker room, 44-28.

It looked as if the Hoyas would coast in the second half with a 17 point lead and the game under control, but then Greg Monroe was called for his fourth foul four minutes into the half and had to go to the bench. Seton Hall took advantage of Monroe’s absence to cut into Georgetown’s lead, using a full-court press to fluster the Hoyas.

The Pirates would whittle the lead down to seven with eight minutes to play before the Hoyas regained their shooting touch. Jason Clark would score eight of the next 12 Georgetown points as the Hoyas pushed the lead back up to 14 and out of reach.

Chris Wright led the Hoyas with 21 points, six assists, and three steals. Clark bounced back from his scoreless outing against Connecticut, pouring in 20 points on 5-6 shooting, including 4-4 from beyond the arc. The team as a whole was an incredible 68% from the field on the night, with four players in double figures.

It was a team effort for the Pirates, who had nine different players make the score sheet. However, leading scorer Jeremy Hazell was held to just 9 points until the final minute of the game, where he added eight more with the result already decided.

Georgetown now have a tough stretch of games, with three of the next four coming on the road. First up for the Hoyas are the Villanova Wildcats this Sunday in Philadelphia. Tip-off at the Wachovia Center is set for 12 PM.
